*obligatory rant with Shinji Ikari, using reasons repeated ad infinitum*

Jason Brody (Far Cry 3) and Lara Crost (Tomb Raider 2013) At first, pushovers who have never even so much as balled a fist at another human, but once they get their first taste of death, suddenly unleashed their inner bloodthirster as they shoot and cleave through legions with relative ease while remaining emotionally fragile. One would think they would be emotionally dead inside from all the tribulations and obstacles they had to go respectively endure and negotiate to rescue their loved ones, but nope. Almost nothing about their personalities, aside from their willingness to kill, changes. Come to think of it, the two protagonists can have their locales switched to the other's and not a single thing about the stories would change in the least, they've so much in common.

Moeblobs and the majority of broody, growling, jaded aggressively humorless and extremely cynical protagonists. I feel no sympathy for them and their presence brings me no joy. And Nathan Drake for reasons already mentioned by members here and Yahtzee.

Adam Jensen from Deus Ex: HR.

But that's only because of his voice. Everyone around him sounds fine (except for that one awful racial stereotype - you know the one), but he sounds like a car engine trying desperately to make a coherent sound. It completely destroys immersion to hear a dude who sounds like he's got level 30 throat cancer.
...I'll make an exception here (on the voice thing) though. I actually didn't mind how he sounded like a growling machine because, well, he pretty much is a machine.

For me it?s Samus from Metroid: Other M. I'm not against characters being developed as time goes on, otherwise we end up in Mario territory, but the change to Samus in this game felt so regressive. I didn't like the choice to make her a voiced character but i respected it as an artistic decision, however, what was the point of giving the character a voice and then giving her nothing meaningful to say? They gave her a voice, and in the same stroke robbed her of any personality.
EDIT: How did I forget to mention this one? Other M's portrayal of Samus was fucking horrible. I don't even know where to start.
