Towards the end of my PS2's life I had a huge amount of fun with the multiplayer on M.A.S.H.E.D and Bomberman. ;D

Burnout 3 was awesome fun and had a sweet soundtrack

MGS3: Snakeeater

Marvel vs. Capcom 2

We Heart Katamari

Silent Hill 2

ICO/Shadow of the Colossus

Gran Turismo 4

Maybe Tekken 5/Soul Calibur 2 if you're into fighting games

Final Fantasy X

Shadow of the Colossus, ICO, Silent Hill 2, Burnout 3, Final Fantasy X are mandatory for a PS2 collection. Everything else is just sweet, sweet filling.

Damn I loved the PS2 era.

Hmmm. Too lazy to post up reasons, so just search GameFAQs for user reviews.

Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy X-2 (ignore the haters, this game is a BLAST to play!)
Final Fantasy XII (Fun, but a massive departure from other FF games)
Persona 4
Bujingai: The Forsaken City
Rogue Galaxy
Xenosaga: episodes 1, 2 and 3
Dragonball Z Budokai 3
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance

All the Sly Cooper Games.

All of the Ratchet and Clank games.

All of the Jak and Daxter games.

Shadow of the Colossus.

God of War 1+2

Okami

Timesplitters. All of them. My favorite series of all time. To me they're the best games of all time. Yes, I said it. BEST GAMES EVER MADE ON EARTH.

Mercenaries. The first one.

So much of my early teens wasted on this game <3
That looks absolutely dreadful.

Either that, or game of the year.

I can't decide!!!!
Its ridiculous. In a good way. My friends and I would spend hours in that game. Just so much stupid fun.

If you like rhythm games I suggest Frequency and Amplitude. There's some simple yet engaging gameplay there, and I attribute Frequency to fostering my love of electronic music.

But if that's not your thing, that's cool.

Some Final Fantasy... 7 and 9 are my recommendations. I also like Suffering, fatal frame, dragon quest IV aaaand Harvest moon which can be awful but i still go to it now and then!
I'm just wondering why you have an Okami avatar but didn't reccommend Okami... wut?
Okami is on my WII, that's how i like it ;)

Persona 3
Persona 4
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

Freakin' awesome games right there.

Also, for racing, I remember having A LOT of fun (but also some grief) with Gran Turismo 4. The 24 hour long races comes to mind... thank f**k for B-spec mode >_<

Bard's Tale is a top down action RPG reboot, full of wit and satirical elements in regards to fantasy, story-telling, and the role playing game genre. There are variable combat strategies, attractive visuals, a basic but entertaining dialogue system, and above all is quite humorous. Its replayability is moderate, much like re-reading a good book, once every couple years or so. I highly recommend it.

I would also recommend Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2, another action RPG, very addictive, especially if you are a fan of games similar to the Diablo franchise and enjoy the Forgotten Realms setting. Supports local two person multiplayer, and replayability is relatively high, two or three run-through sequentially, I would say.

Lastly, Robotech: Battlecry if you're a fan of the series. Great, anime-style visuals, lots of explosions, and very dynamic movement, especially when flying the jet. Perhaps most importantly for the game, an intuitive control system, what with having three separate modes to transform into.
