360 has some awesome games. PS3 has some awesome games.

I don't have a 360, but I can still experience some of its great exclusives on the PC, so yeah, 360 games are pretty good too (at least the ones on the PC).

I really couldn't see a difference in the video. Console wise, I give the PS3 the point because it doesn't fuck up and die as often. The only reason I bought a 360 was because all my friends owned them. Don't get me wrong when the thing actually works right there great. I plan on buying the PS3 slim soon.

hey! hey! one is BLACK and one is WHITE! obviously we cannot get along!

*sigh* console fanboyism is the most pointless kind, i think. I mean, i can totally understand geeking out over your favorite games/books/etc, but the console is just a weird magic box that PLAYS the things that are interesting. the box itself isnt

edit: except the N64. so awesome!

Play MGS4 and then an xbox 360 game that came out around the same time and just try to tell me there isn't much of a difference.

But that's like comparing apples and oranges.
Fine, Gears of War 2 was release i think two or three months after MGS4, it's a different style of game, but graphically astounding.

So if you're putting it that way, no there isn't much of a difference.
And I own both consoles so don't please don't say I favor one.

I like MGS4 and I also enjoyed Gears of War 2. Both games look simply amazing.

But it's national brotherhood week! (Ginormous cookie for the reference)

I really like this thread, I've always been so disappointed in the rampant console fanboyism that goes on in the internet. Both consoles are very very good, people chose what they chose for their own specific reasons. I got a PS3 for MGS4 and because I've always had a Sony game system, but that doesn't mean I'm going to badmouth a friend's 360 whenever I play it because they chose to buy it. It's a console, shut up and enjoy the games.

Eh, fine gears looked good in its own way.

But MGS 4 was just amazing, some of the cut scenes look amazingly realistic.

Also, there is allot more attention to detail in MGS4.

There isn't a game as detailed or as good looking as MGS4 on the 360 is my point.

While I am saying that the PS3 does have better graphics, I am not saying that makes it a better console. Just that its games look better(its exclusive titles anyway)

ive played & finnished MGS4 (great game by the way) but i saw nothing that the 360 could not do (allthough it wud need more then 1 disk), the visual design is excellent & the cut scenes look great but thats down to the developer not the machine.

its like with KZ2 people make out its a step up in visuals but allthough its got alot of visual effects (too much in my opinion) when you actually take a close look at the tectures its at best just as good as the best thats allready out there.

when it comes to "better graphics" ive yet to see anything on ANY console that comes close to what crytec can do with a PC.

no im not a pc-fanboy, i dont game on PC just on my PS3 & 360, and im not any type of fanboy & for those that think ive (apparently) slaged off the PS3 by not saying its graphics are 50 millian times better than the 360, how about this......... the 360 has a terrible D-pad, 360 has poor reliablity & MS made a stupid decision by not makeing the harddisk drive standerd on all 360s, does that make you feel better?.

With regards to HEAVY RAIN & UNCHARTED 2, ill wait untill i play them before i pass judgement (like i do with ALL games), like i said im not a fanboy.
for those not in the know HEAVY RAIN is from the makers of FAHRANHEIGT which was a great game & you shud check it out (allthough i wud be surprised if you can still get a hold of a copy).

i dont care about the visual quality of HEAVY RAIN (well maybe a little bit) allthough its what most people seem to concentrate on, the fact its from the makers of FAHRANHEIGT is what makes me want that game.

Ah, Fahrenheit a.k.a Indigo Prophecy. It was alright, we'll just see how Heavy Rain gets. The trailers (at least the one with the actual gameplay) seems alright.

The two consoles though are pretty tight. I think all this faboyism is just hype from each side just wanting to rub it in the others face, when in truth, they are very similar.

I find the whole fan-boy thing to be madnes, sometimes (ok alot of times) you cant even have a conversation on the net without a fanboy reading something into your post that wasnt there then you spend post after post in an argument with a fanboy, MADNESS!!.

Fahrenheit was definatly a game that will have mixed opinions, i found it to be brilliant & a game eveyone shud play even if its not something you wud like, just to experiance. its like films there are certain films that are must see for film fans regardless of wether its there type of film (OLDBOY is one such film, watch in with the subs unless you speak japanese). only ever played Fahrenheit once so not to dilute the experiance i had (did same with BEYOND GOOD & EVIL)

Graphics-wise, the 360 usually ends up sharper and cleaner, an the PS3 ups the contrast and blurs things a little.

Anyway, who cares if they're different or not? We're still gamers playing games.

Yeah, I was able to actually PLAY the 360 game rather than install and watch a movie. ;)

The amazing detail in MGS 4's cutscenes was nice, but then again we're talking about cutscenes. The cutscenes were honestly where the game looked best. If we were going just by cutscenes, why not bring up Resi 5 (again), those cutscenes were quite beautiful.

Also, not all PS3 exclusives are like MGS, a game I really like, Socom, actually doesn't look that great at all.
I think FFXIII will look astounding, but it's going to be cross platform, and know FF games, it'll look better than MGS (most likely)

For multiplatform, the graphics are usually around the same, but with PS3 exclusives like Heavy Rain, MGS4, inFamous, and Uncharted, the 360 can't compare.

I was with 360 for a while and loved it for the time that I had it and could still play it, but I ended up going with PS3 and I'm very, very, very happy with my choice.

Since I own both consoles, I decided that I would take a stroll down graphic lane with both my consoles tenderly holding my hands.

One of the main things I've heard in the PS3's defense is that the graphics are many steps ahead of the 360... Is that really so true?

When talking to some of my 360 friends, they said that the graphics are actually BETTER on the 360 than PS3.

Now, before fingers of conspiracy start flying, I'm an owner and lover of both consoles, I will show NO bias in this thread and will leave it open (of course) for general discussion.

PS3 owners, we know that our system is very good. Even if the graphics are even with the 360's, we still have a bluray player and gamedisks that don't scratch. (which is a big deal for me, because I leave disks all over the place). We also have free online! The PS3's failure rate is only at 10%, where the 360's is a 54%.
So let's always think of the positives ;)

360 owners, we know that when it comes to having massive amount of games, we're in the lead. We also know that we have a great online system, even though we pay for it. We also can't complain about the graphics on our console.

So there, I tried to make both owners feel good before showinngggggg, this.

I thought Resi 5's graphics were great, hence I chose it for our experiment, so here's a graphical comparison of the PS3 and 360.
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/ps3-360-demo-resident-evil/43925

If you snoop around, you'll find other sites that have graphical comparisons for the two.
I find the PS3 is usually a tad darker with shaders, but for me the main gripes are that X-box live costs a subscription, and I'm freaked out about the RRoD.
If it hadn't been for those, I'd own both a 360 and ps3.
I want to be able to play Star Ocean, Infinite Undiscovery, Dead Rising, Lost Odyysey, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Shadow Complex, and Alan Wake >.<

I bought PS3 because of the Blu-ray (potential for bigger games with less loading times), the hard drive support for games (though this has since become a pain, and I think it should always be optional now), the cell processor (from a techy perspective, and I believe properly utilised it could hereld a "new dawn" in processing standards. Studying the arcitecture was fantastic), free online (since as a student I have no fixed income), Ratchet and Clank and Metal Gear Solid to name but a couple (many of the titles that defined gaming for me are PS exclusives) and finally, admittdly, loyalty. I know it's stupid but I've always bought Sony technology, but this year I'm branching out and buying a 360 elite with 3 games at the awesome new low price. 360 has so much going for it, the multitude of exclusive content for games, the excellent range of games for the system with plenty of premier exclusives, and the community (I know ALOT of people with 360s and it'd be nice to be able to game with them).

I have a sibling who owns the Wii and honestly, it's the quintessence of fatiguing and dull gaming. Nothing on the system has remotely appealed to me. An enormous step backwards in my opinion for Nintendo after Gamecube, which I am a huge fan of.

The whole thread began with graphical differences.
Crossplatform games look almost exactly the same. So I see no reason for us to jump at the idea of every game have epic graphic on the PS3 as compared to 360.

I will say that games made exclusively for PS3 do look great... but can you honestly compare a graphic wonder like MGS (ps3 exclusive) to a graphic wonder such as Gears of War 2 (360 exclusive), the answer in short is no.

The best way to compare graphical differences is obviously with crossplatform games. The same game is far easier to compare differences to than exclusive titles.

I just kind of wish we could be more united.

I weighed the pros and cons for a month (maybe longer) and while the 360 does have some great games that I can't even get for my pc, I had to go with the ps3. I have to say that most of my decision was because it's more reliable hardware. The fact that I have a psp and a hdtv (I wanted a BR player for) helped too.
Personally I think MS's lapse in quality for their hardware is inexcusable and before anyone calles me a fanboy I said the same thing about the ps2 when it had a (much less chronic) problem early in it's cycle. I didn't even get a ps2 until they fixed that.

I wasn't aware that sony actually fixed the bulky PS2's laser problems. From my knowledge, and experience many PS2's lazers scratched the disks beyond repair.. I thought Sony's "fix" was releasing the PS2 slim version.
I could be wrong.
