Now that the PS3 is finally developing into a young lady, I've been wondering if it will finally exceed the popularity of its competitors. The Wii is becoming a cult classic, much like the Gamecube was/is, and the XBOX360 is starting to suck up to corporate 'family friendly' marketing. Maybe because of these drawbacks, the sales of these systems would go down heavily.

I'm been convinced that over the next two years, PS3 sales will rise sharply because of games like Little Big Planet and Resistance 2. Other good games will come for the PS3 and because there are very few XBOX360 exclusives now, there's no reason to choose the 360 over PS3 anymore. It's no longer 600$, the only reason most people anti-fanboyed it to begin with, so nobody should hate it anymore. 2009 and 2010 should be the time of the Sony comeback.

Opinions?

That right there, ladies and gentlemen, is a prime example of what you do instead of leaving it with just (no text).

Bravo.

Yup, a shining example. I did this (multiple times infact), and I always put a message saying "It was an accident, wait till I put up the actual topic".

I think I love you know Mr.Bocaj, *friended* :D

But I'll wait for your topic to start up.

Haha, I did this exact same thing the other day in a topic about the DS's revival with the new DSi. Loads of people had a go at me for presuming it was about the DS being dead, without taking the time to see that I had nothing but praise for the console.

So instead of saying 'The PS3 isn't dead, ner ner ner' I'll wait and see what you have to say.

Methinks this thread has turned into a "what do you do when there's no text on your post?" thread.
Good times...

Now that the post is actually up, let me respond to it.

I suspect the PS3 will do better then it has in the past, but will still remain in third place behind the 360 and the Wii. Yes it's cheaper and it has more games, but sadly I think the damage has been done. And with an XBox360 so cheap these days (cheaper then the Wii in the UK), the PS3 still won't close the gap enough to be considered a real threat to the Wii.

It's a great topic, and I hate doing stuff like this, but shouldn't there be more than the main statement? Like, a question, or something to have us reply to?

And more on topic, yeah. I agree with you. I'm thinking of buying one recently.

*Edit* There we go. I feel much better now. I'll be able to sleep soundly. <3

I work in video game retail and there has been a sharp increase in PS3 sales. I think it is because the Wii dishes out shovel ware and the 360's high death rate. I am just glad someone is finally suing Microsoft for putting out defective hardware (the nxe sucks a big one also).

I really hope that someone from Sony is reading this.

While PS3 should probably be taking off around christmas time i dont see it ever catching up with xbox or wii, despite it being better in my opinion.
Actually i'd like to expell wii from this comparison as its been bought less as a traditional gaming system and more as a gadget - you buy one because its cheap and it does something cool, its hardly in the same league, as is shown by the fact that nearly everyone i know has a wii in their home, but no-one plays the damn things.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand, PS3 wont make a quick comeback because its larger price means you're less likely to buy it for single exclusives, moreover PS3 is a far less social platform so its growth will never be exponential untill that changes.

2009 will be the year of the PS3.

(I hope...)
Then, it will be a glorious year, however I do not believe Chinese Astrology had consoles, *(If you exclude year 13-Atari 2600)

I am considering buying a PS3, but I don't think it will become a competitor to the Wii.

The main problem I have, now that I'm considering getting a system, is that games that come out for both XBox and PS3 always seem to be better on the XBox (according to reviews). It might be an issue with the framerate (often) or DLC, but games that should be identical always seem to be a little better on the 360.

i wholeheartedly agree...i used to be a class A hater but recently I've actually been saving up to buy one. The PS3 is making a comeback, and I think it will bypass the Wii in no time
No, not the Wii. Maybe (and most likely IMO) the 360 but not the Wii. The Wii sold about 35 million units and the PS3 about 17 millions. The PS3 can't bypass the Wii.
