EDIT: However, this difficulty is largely academic. Developers are still going to make games for the PS3 regardless of how hard it is, because the cost of development makes ignoring a sizeable portion of the market a foolhardy proposition at best. I still don't think the PS3 will ever outsell the Wii though.
Does anyone?
The OP seems to think so.

PS3 can never catch up to the Wii's huge lead in console sales. No matter the amount of good games that are coming out for it. Nintendo as sold a ridiculous amount of Wii's. And I think that because the PS3 is still more expensive then other consoles, it is still unlikely that everyone will buy it.
Well, according to a number of leaked reports, they are having a price reduction in March. Why march, and not now, who knows.
The PS3 will still be more expensive though, even with this new price drop.

Sony can't afford to drop price now as they don't expect to even see profit before 2010 and the Wii wont drop because its a bad idea with their sales rate.
Nintendo has clearly won even if they don't sell the most units (which they have) but will clearly make the most profit especially since all the best selling Wii games are first party.

Isn't the DS about the same price to? I don't know, can't remember the recent price tag for a DS.
PSP is $1999 and PSP 3000 is slightly more.
is a PSP really that much? I can buy 100 xboxes with that much money!
EDIT: 100 +or- 10
 If you're going to make fun of someone for a numerical typo (Which is more than acceptable), check your math. $200x90 = $18000.
I honestly didn't think that it was a typo. I expect that kind of thing these days
You expect a portable system to sell for 5 times the price of its much more powerful home console version?
No, that's why i was shocked.

Well Krunk you can still play the Original PS1 games if that's what you mean, as for the PS2... yeah well even PS3 owners admit that was a stupid move.

Then again from seeing them remove Rumble then re-adding it, I still think there is a chance they will re-add it.
There are still copies of the orginal 20/60GB PS3 out there if you know where to look, and those DO play Ps2 Games.
And Sony did say they are looking into adding BC for the PS3, its just not there top priority. (afterall, why would they want to do something that isn't going to net them any profit?) However it should be noted, that the orginal 40GB/new 60GB PS3, HAD BC, but it was limited. Thats because they removed 1/2 of the ps2 components. They were effectively running half of the games on Software, and other half on hardware.
Later Versions (so I'm told) they removed all the ps2 parts. (Ass hat move, basically strong armed by microsoft to cut costs and sell at a lower price)

As for the PS3 and its lack of profit, from what I had heard, the PS3 was actually profitting from PS3 sales, before they did there last price cut. (Aka they were running into the red, then they were profitting, then they cut costs went into the red, and are nearing more towards the profit margin, like a game of tag?)

Given the economy, I doubt sony will cut costs anytime soon, and by soon I mean a year?

On the same note, at least the PsP is running on pure profit. ;)

Yes, that because it still has the better hardware. Amazingly, the console wars don't change the underlying facts of economics - you still need to pay for the best.
Some people don't care about the best hardware though. And even if it does have the best hardware, if developers don't know how to use that power it's useless. In the case of Fallout 3, the PS3 had the worst graphics of all the versions that came out. I also think that parents that are going shopping this season won't want to get the most expensive system just because they'll want the cheapest distraction to shut their hell spawn up for five minutes.

By that logic, wouldn't the Wii get more ports than it's getting? If the Xbox can run Half-Life 2, so can the Wii.

So the Wii has stronger hardware than the $60 cheaper Arcade Xbox 360 system? Or the PS2 is 3 times more expense than original Xbox because it has Superior hardware? But then again it seems paying more does not seem to always work.

Paying more does not mean getting more. (EX.Downfall of the Big three Auto makers, PCs, or sales.)

There is a definite resurgence in PS3 sales and it will do better in the future. I Believe it will surpass the 360 in Worldwide sales but not in North America and it will not be a massive difference. It will not catch the Wii.

Now to twiddle my thumbs for the PSP comeback (LBP PSP would be a nice start.)

Unless they are THQ (what were they thinking???)

I really think that anything Sony does to save the PS3 will be too little too late. BluRay hasn't helped. MGS4 hasn't helped. I'm not sure what it will take to give Sony some momentum. I know the online is free, but when most of your friends are on XBL, it doesn't make a lot of sense to buy that other big powerful console.
