PS3, is it worth it?

I have recently exited the dark forest of unemployment and found a job, and I'm considering buying a PS3 to treat myself. I already own a 360 and it's been enough for me thus far but I want something new. My only concern is that there wouldn't be any games that I would be interested in, or anything I couldn't already get for my 360. So I guess I'm asking anyone who has a PS3, are there any decent PS3 exclusives that would warrant me buying the console? I'm into all types of games, in particular shooters and racing games, so any suggestions are welcome.

Cheers guys :)

In my experience, the PS3 has fewer games worth getting, but what's worth getting is really worth getting. I'm not sure if any one could justify the entire console, but enough of them could, easily.

Personal favorites:
-Folklore
-Infamous
-Little Big Planet
-Uncharted

Its no more so then the 360 I guess. I mean, other then it being a blu ray player. If you got a 360, then youre just getting it for exclusives, which are really good, but Im sure the same can be said for the 360 exclusives. So I dont know, its up to you. the PS3 seems to be going to last longer though.

It's really not worth buying a console of £200 when there are a select few exclusives you will buy.

200£ + about lets say 3 60 for 4 games you want so in the end £260 for a couple of exclusives and a blue ray player. Is that worth your money ?

Edit: For me buying into another current gen console is past its prime, unless ofc playing their exclusives is really worth that much for you.

I think its Exclusives are far better than the 360, and you can play Bluray, overall I'd recommend it if you've got the cash.

There's some great exclusives, but not enough to warrant a purchase unless you're swimming in cash. I'd say stick with what you have.

It's got several really good exclusives and by now it's gone way down in price.
I say go for it.

Ahhhh...... I have to say no.

Not because im a 360 fanboy. In fact, i own all 3 systems, and a great gaming PC.

Just, i feel like my purchase wasnt a good one. The exclusives are good. Dont get me wrong. They are above average. But to pay for an entire system, and THEN those 4 or 5 games you wanna play?
I just dont think its worth the cost.

Most of the top tier games that come out these days are multi-platform. If i didnt hit the lottery ((499$ before tax)) i wouldnt have gotten a PS3 at all.

In all honesty, youd be better off using your money to pay off the games coming out in the future. Skyrim, SR3, maybe MW3 if your looking forward to it. But right now, i just dont think a PS3 is worth sinking money into.

Unless you are a fan of Gran Turismo, no. The 360 has all the good exclusives. I ended up picking a 360 up a few months ago because of this.

Yes, it is probably worth it, espescially now that it has a nice collection under its belt.

Plus, they just did a price drop, so now is the time to get one.

If you don't already have a good PC then sure, but if not, I don't think the exclusives are worth buying an entire system for. I love my PS3, but I bought it for several other reasons besides the exclusives. Save your money.

I own both, and while I love my PS3 and the many games it offers, if you're not exactly overflowing with cash then it's not worth a purchase. If your main preferences are shooters and racing, the 360 does those better anyway (online multiplayer, controls, party system, etc.), so you're not missing much.

I began a thread like this a few days ago when my 360 broke, asking if I should get a PS3. Most people seemed to say that I should. Plus, it does have blu-ray too. I'm still undecided though... I can afford the £150 - £200 it will cost, but I really don't want to end up regretting my decision...

Depends on your taste in games, the Blu-ray and free online is just a bonus, personally the PS3 has a tonne more exclusive games i'd want to play than on the 360:

Uncharted 1-3, inFamous 1-2, MGS4, GT5, God of War 3, LittleBigPlanet 1-2, Heavy Rain, Motorstorm 1-3, Killzone 2-3, Resistance 1-3.

These opposed to Gear of War 1-3, Teh Haloes, Fable 2-3 and Forza 3.

Kinda makes it one sided for me I guess lol.

Edit: Forgot about all the PSN games like Warhawk/Starhawk and Wipeout HD etc

I'd say that if you want to buy it just for games, then probably no. But if you want to buy a really good overall entertainment system, then go for it.

There is no point in buying a PS3 if you have 360 there are only a few exclusives and unless you want to buy and play all those exclusives its not worth it. Now that you have a job you probably wont even have the time to make the PS3 worth it.

Well since you mention shooters and racing games Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 2/3, Wipeout (Fury) spring to mind, but then you have other exclusives like Infamous 1/2, Heavy Rain, Uncharted 1/2, Mag, God of War 3, Resistance 1-3, Metal Gear Solid 4 and many more, there are also quite a few great psn titles that are fantastic fun, pretty sure Fat Princess is still ps3 only? I couldn't get enough of that game.

Honestly in my opinion; owning both consoles (plus a Wii and gaming pc) the ps3 is fantastic for exclusive titles, it kinda gets screwed on multi platform games, either with Microsoft demanding timed exclusives or crappy ports since the games were originally developed using the 360 (although the latter is alot less of an issue these days)

I barely use my 360 these days, and If I could magically transfer all my multi platform games I own on my 360 into ps3 versions I would without a second thought (I owned a 360 since release ps3 about 1.5 years after launch due to money etc).

Edit: Oh, but wether it is worth the purchase or not depends entirely on how many exclusive titles you actually end up buying/playing, on the bright side its a decent Blu Ray player and the online play is free so there is always that. Basically only you will be able to decide if is worth the purchase or not.
