I'm thinking about buying a PS3, but not sure if my reasons for wanting one is worth the £300.

I already own an Xbox360 and up till now it's down me proud, there has always been a new game I've wanted and many games to complete, but now the only game coming out soon that I'm interested in is RE5, and after that nothing at all.

My main reasons for wanting a PS3 are Ratchet and Clank (my childhood favorite, which i still love.) the free PSN (as I'm tired of paying £40 a year for something I hardly use nowadays) and the lack of breakdown and freezing my Xbox is currently doing. Not to mention the other PS3 exclusives that have been catching my eye for quite some time.

So, I'm basically asking for your opinions on whether it's worth forking out the cash, or if I should just stop thinking about my beloved Ratchet and Clank.

I personally will be sticking with my 360 (largely out of a lack of cash to get anything else with) but I can see why the PS3 is a good choice (if I had the money avalible I would probably get one to go next to my 360).

If you can, try to get both. If you can't, then just go with whichever one appeals to you the most.

Yes. As long as you can afford it.

1. You already have the 360. It's not as if it's going to disappear once you buy a PS3. Nor does proximity to a PS3 cause the RROD. Once you get it, you'll have two different libraries to play from.

2. It has a game you want. An exclusive game. If you don't get it, you won't be able to play said game. Whether or not said game is worth it, only you can make that call, but if you want to play it, there you are.

3. The aforementioned second library. Not only do you get access to those retail titles, but there are also the original (or semi-original) PSN games, which, among original titles at least, tend to be excusives.

So yes, as long as you've got the scratch handy, go for it. The only people who complain about owning too many consoles are the Nintendo haters.

I was thing the same thing; LBP, Kilzone 2, MGS4, Uncharted. I decided against it though because it's £300!

Just think about it, it's so much more expensive than the other consoles and the games are at the same level, if not more expensive than the Xbox 360's.

I thought that I could use it as a Blu-Ray player but Blu-Ray discs cost a lot more than DVDs, even rubbish old films that aren't really HD.

£40 a year is ridiculous and the breakdowns are very annoying. The PS3 has a lot going for it but to me it's just too expensive.

Do you have an HDTV? If so yes. If not no.
Yes I do, am I right in thinking that due to the Playstations power, there will soon be a noticeable difference between Xbox and PS graphics?

I already have an Xbox360, and the expense isn't an issue, it's whether I can justify spending around £300+ for a console and a couple of games.

With an HDTV the PS3 is worth it. Mostly for the blu-ray player.

Yeah, do it. Mine has now nearly completely replaced my 360, it's nice to be playing to the sound of a quiet hum as opposed a loud whirring. I only play the exclusives on my 360 now, I've even traded in some of my old 360 games for the PS3 versions.

Oh wait, I see your point.

P.S. I was kidding, I love both of the consoles, and Viva Pinata is mighty fun.

I'd say to buy the PS3, but only if you have an HDTV and enough cash to buy all the HD attachments so it will bloody work

And if you have a PSP as well, you have the interactivity between the two as well which is pretty cool

Actually, most of all movies are HD, in a way.

From a 35mm film, you could get much more resolution than what we call "HD", as long as there is a certain quality to it (Copy or Master, Amount of Film Grain, Method of Transfer etc).

I watched the Blu Ray Version of Vanishing Point a few weeks back, and while it may not be as sharp and clean as newer Movies like Transformers are in HD, there is certainly a benefit in the higher resolution and i don't think the movie ever looked this great before.

Ohhh, it's got a nice Devil may Cry rip off to be proud of.
My dislike for God of War aside I would do it. Nobody can knock the game line up any more, it's guaranteed to last you a good few years, and it has Tekken.

The thing is that they have to be 'remastered', so a lot of what you're seeing has been altered. It is of course better than standard DVD resolution though.

Imax films are insanely high definition something like 10,000*7,000 pixels.
