And how many of those were released in the last year? Just SSBB, Mario Kart Wii, an Wario Land.
"Just"? They fucking released a game in all their major franchises for the Wii in the span of two fucking years! Games that usually have a 2-4 year development cycle! Do the fucking math!
We're still very early in the Wii's life cycle. Remember how many games Nintendo released in their main franchises on previous consoles? Let's just have a look at the Nintendo 64, since it is usually considered Nintendo's most recent successful console (not counting the Wii)...
N64 (1996-2001):
1 Super Mario
1 Mario Kart
1 Super Smash Bros
2 Zelda (where one was a spinoff)
1 F-Zero
1 Star Fox
1 Kirby
1 Donkey Kong
And then let's look at the Wii...
Wii (2006-2008(-????))
1 Super Mario
1 Mario Kart
1 Super Smash Bros
1 Zelda
1 Metroid
1 WarioWare
1 Wario Land
See that? That's 9 major games in six years, versus 7 in two. Any objections?

And I wouldn't really consider that Mario Kart Wii was aimed at long-time fans. It seems to be more for families now, with mothers making up the largest share of purchasers.
You know what? My mom's been playing Mario Kart since the MK64. Coincidentally, Mario Kart 64 is my favorite game in the series.
On the other hand, I hated Double Dash, but with only a few annoying flaws I've absolutely loved Mario Kart Wii. I just wish they'd fleshed out the singleplayer and local multiplayer modes a bit, like they did with Mario Kart DS.
And you know what? Mario Kart is always for the fans. The people who find enjoyment in Mario Kart over realistic racers or generic party racers are to a great degree people who like the Mario universe, which makes them fans.

Also, rereleasing games from 10 years ago doesn't count. "Releasing" means in the present day.
That's funny, because it is the present day today, and they've been releasing a lot of sweet "hardcore" games I'd never played before in the last two years.
And that's not even counting games that never made it out of the Japan and the US on their original platforms (such as Super Mario RPG and Sin & Punishment).
Regardless of how you choose to discriminate against the titles, they're very much hardcore releases, and they're being made availible in the here and now.

And have you seen the games in WiiWare? Most of them are party games and the few that aren't are simple, pick-up-and-play type games. Hardly for the long-time fans wanting a challenge.
That's funny, because I find a lot of other "hardcore" games that are very void of challenge to me, since I've been playing video games for 20 years now. But that doesn't matter, since I can still enjoy playing them for other reasons than just difficulty. On the whole video games are about stimulance, in one way or another.
But, yes, WiiWare is basically an outlet for creative game development. For titles that can't be developed for and released on the disc format due to the risk and higher costs involved. But for a low price you might just find yourself a very unique, although short-lived, experience.
