Left 4 Dead

first game was good. intense and occasionally pant-wetting in atmosphere. 2nd game could have been released as an expansion pack in reality, and now there's a 3rd game apparently confirmed.
Seriously? I love L4D and L4D2, but that seems a little to far.
Its not going to far to say that the 2nd game should have been an expansion pack, strip it down to its bare parts and you see all they did was make new maps, some new weapons and new characters. Its the same game with different pictures as my dad says, if its not DooM it is DooM with different pictures. lol...

Definitely Crash Bandicoot. The first 3 games were brilliant and even the Mario Kart rip off was alright, but now...
They need to take the poor guy outside and put a few rounds in the back of his head.
i gotta disagree with you there. youre right about the past few games being pretty crappy, but the last true CB game released was like over 2 years ago.

what they should do is actually TRY on the next crash game, and maybe just release it as a downloadable title... similar to whats happening with Rayman

on topic: i really dont wish ANY series to end, because there are people that still enjoy them. im not gonna piss on anyones parade if i have the choice... but if it felt the opposite way, i would piss all over Final Fantasy. i mean i would drench that series. cant stand it :/

Final Fantasy of course. Of course to me the series ended at X. Also Sonic, just no more.

I don't want any series to end, especially since so many of the so-called "bad" series really have so much potential (not to mention I still like most of them).

However, Resident Evil needs to take a break, and the writers need to take a step back and think about what they wanna do with the series. They are at a perfectly good stopping point as far as the current series is concerned, and I think a reboot or just general retooling of the series wouldn't go amiss.

Halo.

The first and second games were good, the third was great. ODST was quite dire, just unnecessary and dull. Would have worked far better as Halo 3 DLC. Reach was underwhelming and, to be honest, I found it really boring in parts. Only played the demo for Halo: Wars so I can't really comment, but from what I played I wasn't keen.

Halo 3 had a good, ambiguous, open ending that allowed for Master Chief's story to continue, but that doesn't mean we should see what happens next. And I really don't think the Halo 'world' is interesting enough to base more 'spin-off' games (such as Reach or Halo: Wars) on, anyway. The main Halo series (that is, Master Chief's story) has had a good run, and should be allowed to end gracefully.

Kingdom Hearts.... stop making all these damn side steps and move forward. I don't need another childbirth, sleepyhead, backofgameinformercodesection, or anything else but Kingdom Hearts 3.
They do that to expand the story. Calm down. Without those "sidesteps", they'd have nowhere to move forward to. You need to make the foundation before you can build the house.

They're saving Kingdom Hearts III for last anyway, since it's meant to end the "Xehanort saga." That means you just have to wait through about one new game (3D, which is being considered more of a main game than a 'sidestory.') and wait for Tetsuya Nomura to give the go-ahead for the development to start. (They're currently researching about the high-def graphics, but can't work on the game right now because Nomura is busy with other projects.) Patience is a virtue.

OT: I feel like Spyro and Crash have run their course. They should have stopped after the original developers lost rights to the games.

I am going to jump on the COD hate, at a minimum they need to take some time off and fix everything there is no way an online game should be this laggy.

CoD, Final Fantasy, MGS, Fifa, PES, god the list goes on. Its not so much a "End this shit" more of a "Stop adding the damn numbers every year! Try so fucking INNOVATION!!!!!!!!" However it may be time to end the FF series before a truly bad FF game wanks the entire franchise away.

Maybe you found ODST dull, but I found the story to be the best told by the games, by far. It was more personal and human. And the design of the city was awesome, if a little "fake sandbox".

Though I agree on the fact that Reach was sub par and didn't deliver on what they kept saying it was going to have, story/campaign wise. Love the multiplayer though. And as for Wars, the only reason I loved it is because I'm, admittedly, a Halo story fanboy :D I've read all the books and everything, so I welcome most additions to the story overall (though Legends was 80% crap). Not to mention they represented the Flood damn near perfectly. Strength in numbers, not in... well... strength. Hadn't seen Flood done that well since the original.

No it didn't. It was the last game that Bungie has its benevolent hands in (for the foreseeable future). 343 Studios, Microsoft's in-house Halo production company (the guys that helped with Legends and run Waypoint) is continuing the series, and is currently working on the next entry (rumor is that it's a remake of the original with Reach's engine, for the sake of practice/cash ins). Let's just hope that they have the skill to make some good games. Games that feel more like 1/2/3/ODST, not Reach. Reach lost the charm of the other ones.

More on topic, it's rare that I feel a series should just die. To comment on those most asked to die in the thread:

Final Fantasy: No. The only FF's I've liked are Tactics Advanced and IV, but even I'll admit they have their audience, and it's a HUGE one. Just because most of us on here think it's dull and bland, doesn't mean it'll stop making money.

Call of Duty: Again, no, but they need to slow down a bit, and stop hyping up every one of their games like it's the next coming of Christ. I mean, come on, Christ can only come so many times. (Insert crude ejaculation joke here).

Halo: This is totally fanboy fueled, but HELL no. The Halo's extended universe has tons of potential for tons of types of games and stories. I'd love to see a tactical game based in the Halo universe, or a game like Splinter Cell. Or a good RTS.

Guitar Hero/Rock Band/Etc: ... Maybe it's time for it to phase out for now. It does seem to have overstayed it's welcome. Or maybe just release one last one with every song from the other ones, and then whenever the people ask for more songs, they release them as DLC.

Zelda: No. Fuck anyone who says otherwise. I'll sit through a mediocre release like Phantom Hourglass for the potential release of an amazing gem like Spirit Tracks. And NO VOICE ACTING. Tradition, people.

Metroid: No. There hasn't been a single Metroid game that's been bad. What? Other M? IT DOESN'T EXIST! IT DOESN'T EXIST! Happy place... happy place... o_o

There are others I don't feel I need to get into, like Half Life, but I've said my two cents here.

All of them. Sequels should be a crime because it smothers innovation. I am in the Yahtzee school of game development

Me, its not so much a game series as much as a style. Hacky-Slashy-Button-Mashy with a heavy dose of QTE's needs to go. Maybe its just me, but i'd like to go back to actually playing my boss fights rather that rapidly smacking keys to trigger an "interactive" (read: more QTE) cutscene. Bossfights should involve quick thinking and tactics, not slaying our wrists and thumbs.
