All of them. Sequels should be a crime because it smothers innovation. I am in the Yahtzee school of game development
They also lead to originally innovative titles reaching their full potential.

Please get rid of the Battlefield series. Also, get rid of Valve as a company...
Even if you hate all of their games (which, by law, you must be crucified for), they're better than almost anyone else for Steam alone.

Metroid: No. There hasn't been a single Metroid game that's been bad. What? Other M? IT DOESN'T EXIST! IT DOESN'T EXIST! Happy place... happy place... o_o
Yeah, what Other M? :)

OT: I can see the point in not retiring any series if people still like them. But, on the other hand, seeing bad games in a series you used to like can do some damage to your opinion of the good games. Kinda like how the first Matrix movie loses some points for having spawned the sequels. The best way to deal with this would be to completely forget the sequels or new games existed (see above), but unfortunately it is not entirely possible (short of someone inventing a memory-erasing device).

So, in that spirit, I nominate the series I really believe should be put to rest: Silent Hill.

Tomb Raider, no matter how they remake the adventures of Butt woman, no matter how they try to claim they wish to make Croft a serious character... let it die, rename start a new.

Also anything reImagine or reinvented or retold. Seriously get your staff together make a new game/book/movie not take someone elses work and pervert it.

None, really. People are having fun with them, or they wouldn't be buying the games. Why would I be a douchebag and take their fun away from them?

I hate Final Fantasy and will make fun of you for playing it, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to if you have fun with it. I think Valve makes crappy multiplayer FPS games, but lots of people like them.

great, another excuse for people to complain pointlessly about games that they don't like. These threads are more repetitive than Final fantasy (haha joking). Silly people...

I have no idea why Lara Croft is even still around, apart from the sense that, "Oh, you can't get rid of her; she's an iconic character!" Pssh, no. Maybe that was true ten or fifteen years ago, but to people my age and younger than me, I highly doubt that.

So yes; no more Tomb Raider. (Although the arcade game thingy that came out this year didn't suck. That doesn't salvage the series, though.)

Call of Duty. I've played and finished all call of duty games, even bought black ops, and while I enjoy it, the fact that they want me to pay for maps has turned me off on them, i'll play the next one at a friend's house.

Halo. There's no need for it anymore, they can't find anything original to do with the series, and with Mass Effect being as awesome as it is, it just seems stale as hell.

Final Fantasy. I don't even know what to say about this one honestly, but it has overstayed it's welcome.

Hey, y'know what I do when I'm tired of a series? I stop playing the games. I don't begrudge people who still like them.

This thread. Seriously, fifth time in, like, two months.

OT: Honestly? Halo. And this is coming from a massive Halo fanboy.
Halo 3 was fantastic, Reach was amazing, but now that Bungie is out of the picture, I get this weird feeling that the Microsoft controlled 343 Industries will milk and butcher my favorite series.

Definitely Crash Bandicoot. The first 3 games were brilliant and even the Mario Kart rip off was alright, but now...
They need to take the poor guy outside and put a few rounds in the back of his head.
Well, it was only because Naughty Dog sold it, but yeah.

Fable needs to be put down. The second one was the best. It's like that thing yahtzee said about the three spiderman games. First makes the money, second makes everything awesome. Third fucks shit up.

As much as it pains me to say this, Final Fantasy. It hasn't been good since VII, and even it had a lot of crap. They've entirely missed the point, that the heart of the game is in the story--and not a story about whiny, whinging teenage idiots with the depth of a teaspoon. Final Fantasy needs to be either epic, or it needs not to be. Since they can't come to grips with engaging characters and storylines anymore, unfortunately I think it's time to put this series to bed.

I won't say a particular game series needs to die, but I think fanboys need to go somewhere far away with no access to the games they obssess over and overhype.

You better arm yourself, lad. This be the territory of Newell's Legions.

On topic, I think Sonic and Resident Evil need a shot gun between the eyes. The games have only gotten worse (with the exception of RE4, which I maintain was just luck on Capcom's part). Also, Pokemon, since I want to save Nintendo the trouble of thinking up new Pokemon for the next generations.

Sorry, no. I have always thought that "Just end the series" is one of the stupidest things gamers tend to say. You don't like a series?

Then don't play it. Simple as that.
