There are far worse concepts to turn into MMOGs. I do love Pokemon (in fact I'm really tempted to get a DS so I can play Heart Gold), but I don't like MMOs. If it where subscription free then that might tip the balance.

Probably, as long as they make the world 3D. Not that I have anything against 2D, it's just that I'm beginning to get a little sick of the same old view in the mainstream Pokemon games; I'd love to be able to walk around a 3D world full of Pokemon and trainers to battle.

Nintendo put the kibosh on a fan-made Pokemon MMOG, to the surprise of absolutely no one. Would you play a Pokemon MMOG?
  • If:
    1. It was turn based (both PvE and PvP, time limits are fine)
    2. It was balanced on the way up (i.e. so everyone doesn't choose the same "best" Pokemon)
    3. Pokemon you choose at the beginning can be useful to the endgame
    4. They focused on the "Trainer" aspect (i.e. you grow stronger from helping new people)
    5. It was PC as well as Nintendo consoles
If they could make these types of things happen, it could potentially be REALLY fun.

Provided they did two things:

1. De-saturate the amount of moves available. Seriously, D/P/P had way too many, and it makes HG/SS inferior to the originals.

2. Remove EV/IV whoring. Because it's boring, and it makes the playing field about as level as a pool table on a speedboat. And the sea is particularly choppy.

This is the one game that I can truly say would be a WoW killer. I know so many people who would drop everything to play a pokemon MMO.

Yes. Fuck yes. Hell yes. GO EEVEE-LUTION TEAM!

Minus Espeon.
Fixed that for you.

OT: FUCK.
YES.

If you fix the obvious PC problem, go right ahead.
Yes. I'll just toss out the MOST POWERFUL one.

If it was with only the 251 first pokemon, HELL YEAH!
I don't like the ones that came afterwards, because I didn't get a GameBoy Advance I couldn't keep up with new pokemon :(
Still, the 251 first are the 251 best.

Also the stupidest one.

It's so stupid.
Umbreon at least looks cool.
At least its USEFUL. Umbreon can't do shit on offense.

How about I just leave out Leafeon, instead?

I'll have little need for a Grass type.

If it was done correctly, I'd definitely play it - I think Pokémon is one game franchaise that would really work as an MMO. As long as legendaries weren't the be all end all, and people who didn't train absolutely perfectly (using their favourite Pokémon, with their own favourite moves, instead of what's 'optimal') could still do most of the content, I think it'd be a great thing.

Really depends, while the regular mechanic is great for single player, turnbased multiplayer seems rather odd. And Game Freak sometimes make great spinoffs (mystery dungeon) and sometimes make shit spinoffs (ranger)

I wouldn't play one myself, but I answered for my fiancee. If a Pokemon MMO came out I could say goodbye to sex for a couple of weeks/months.
