I enjoy a good steampunk theme every now and again, but my true love is with clockpunk.
The intricacy....regular as clockwork.
Heheh.
I agree with you.

I tend to like steampunk if it's for pure fantasy. I don't really like the "re-imagining history" steampunk. I think that's just kind of silly.

Both steam and cyber punk are my two favorite settings. So yeah i love them and wish there would be at least a little more of decent games/movies using those conceptions. Majority of what i've seen that wanted to tie itself to either of the setting was rather uninspiring so far.

I'm pretty new to steampunk but I got my hands on my first steampunk book last week (Leviathan) and I quite enjoyed the change of setting. It's a fun idea to play around with, and I hope to see more of it.

It's stupid. The tech tends to be stupid, and while I love clockwork machinery, or really any machinery that shows the inner working, but the steampunk setting typically is poorly done and is well and truely overused.

I suppose I'm somewhat biased though, I do love cyberpunk settings, though possibly because it's rather underused lately.

Every time I see steampunk, I see the word 'punk' which equals to 'modern douche-fag' in my dictionary, so the word itself is annoying in a small, if not stupid, sense.

Other than that, I like the concept itself, because it is the closest thing to magic without actually saying the word magic... even though it still lacks any damn sense.

Pff. Cyberpunk all the way.
That said, between steampunk and something that isn't cyberpunk, I'd probably pick steampunk. Even though it tends to get a little bit ridiculous.

Anything punk...stupid, ridiculous, retarded......the list goes on and on and on. Nothing positive about it whatsoever.

I like steampunk (and cyberpunk), but I'm not overly in love with it. It's nice now and again though.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but...

What is steampunk?

I hate it.
Overused and a piss-poor excuse to rip of existing material.

Done right it can be a good setting. Too bad that almost never happens.

I see it as an untapped artistic license. Nearly everything out there is sci-fi or cyberpunk. I still remember Final Fantasy IX for having some of the coolest steam--er--"mist"-related stuff; and not just the air-ships.

I like what it is i just dont quite like the word used to describe it. Anything with the word punk annoys me!
