Here's my thing with Steampunk; it's very visual, and that is all. Unlike its cousin Cyberpunk (which I greatly prefer), Steampunk has a look, but no feel. Every steampunk picture, costume, theme, whatever-- it's all looked very snazzy, but lacked any substance to me. There's no spirit, no flair. Maybe that's part of the appeal, I dunno. Whereas with Cyberpunk, there's a lot of substance to the material. It can be the dorkiest lamest 'punk outfit ever, and it still has more soul (to me) than Steampunk.
So I find Steampunk tollerable, but little more than that. I don't go out of my way to show love for it. Cyberpunk however? Baby maka me so hawt!
