As long as they are free I love them. However something like BC2 vietnam I will pay for because there are new vehicles, weapons, badges, and maps.

looks like I'm with the majority. I'm all for map packs, but $15 is just too goddamn expensive.

Always too expensive, but I will download them from time to time. The worst execution of these maps was in CoD: World at War where the gamer was essentially punished for not buying the packs.

I like them when they're free. Which is why I love Valve.

But I REALLY REALLY wish they have more single player DLC.

I picked the Other option, because I don't really agree with the full out "hate them" option... or actually scratch that, I just realized the poll is specifically asking about "Map Packs" and not DLC in general.

It's not the DLC that's the problem, it's the complete douchbag way Activision releases them, and the COD community that readily accepts and purchases it. There really isn't much more you can say about a company who cuts the long standing mod community out of the picture then releases half assed and badly over priced additions.

On the other hand I don't think it needs to be completely free like Valve, though that's certainly great and I wouldn't complain. If companies like Bethesda or Bioware give the community the ability to freely create and distribute mods and/or campaigns, but still create and sell their own new additions, then there's nothing wrong with that. Note that for Bioware I'm more refering to Neverwinter Nights, I haven't played Dragon Age yet to properly judge it.

Bad Company 2 is an example of doing it right. EA/DICE have forever earned my love.

Ill never pay for downloadable maps, especially if I've already purchased the game.

If they're well priced for the content then I'm happy to download map-packs. However unless it's a pack like the ones Rockstar Games release for Red Dead Redemption; which come with extra content to justify the pricetags that Microsoft enforce, or the packs released for Left 4 Dead on the Steam Network (I didn't pay a penny for the Passing or The Sacrifice) they usually come as an overpriced disappointment.

Yes, and I'm happy that we are apparently not the only ones who think so.
I really didn't expect the "too expensive" selection to be the most popular. I usually think of gamers as the biggest suckers this side of new car lots. It's good to know that most (of the ones here at least) aren't.
DLC in general is usually overpriced, and even if it isn't, I only buy dlc if it's a game I really like. In the past year I've only bought the dlc for Borderlands and Assassins Creed 2 dlc which were cheap and gave you a lot of content for your dollar. I had also completely exhausted the content included (which was considerable).
And as much as I'm enjoying Blops, they're going to have to add a lot more than just maps if they're going to charge $10.
I'm expecting a few maps for $15 so I'm not going to be buying.
