I prefer console gaming so I'd probably buy it on both console and PC then play it mostly on console.

How... how would you even begin to do that? I'll be playing it on the PC, the way it was meant to be played.

I JUST don't see how a console controller would EVER work for this game. the controllers just aren't fast and responsive enough and it just seems that it would play very awkwardly. Diablo games really need to be played with a mouse. So yea, i think they should keep it on PC.

My earliest memories of Diablo were on the PC, so I'm not opposed. As long as it's done well and doesn't detract from the PC version I'll happily play some 4 player co-op with the family on my PS3.

I'll only be playing it if it comes to 360. My PC won't be able to handle it.

Seriously, I think it can be done - I think Diablo one of the few PC-oriented games that doesn't strictly need mouse controls.

Yes, the Diablo style of action RPG is one of the few genres I really prefer on consoles. I like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Champions of Norrath a lot more than Diablo on PC, because you feel so much more in control of the character - since you actually control him directly instead of pointing and clicking where to go. Had the Diablo games been party based, like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale on the PC, I certainly would prefer it on the PC, as then the indirect mouse controls are a necessity - but as you only control one character in the Diablo series, I don't think it makes any sense to not directly control her/him.
Or, they could just include gamepad support or WASD style keyboard controls and I'd stick to it on PC.

If it translates well to the 360, I'd play it. I haven't played a Diablo since the original and it influenced plenty of other games. I'd be curious to try it out. Curious but not overjoyed.

I would if i owned a console and not a PC. But its the other way round. So i clicked other.

Personally i think it would work fine on the console now they have the orb system, i can imagine it would be tricky with potions.

I don't really know if I'd actually want to play Diablo 3 on my 360. Maybe, if the controls could be mapped well. It'll probably end up working better on PC though, so I'll probably just end up getting it for that.

That being said, I really do believe a game that is very similar to the Diablo games could end up being quite excellent, perhaps even better for those of us that prefer comfort in our gaming. Sadly I do not know of any console games that are both similar to Diablo and... you know, good. The closest I can think of is maybe the Dark Cloud games... Dammit, now I want to play Dark Cloud. I wish I knew what happened to my copy.

Anyway, short version: The idea has a lot of potential, but I'm dubious of porting Diablo. Still, I very much like the idea, so I said yes even though that's kind of a lie.

Absolutely,if I didn't have the option of playing it on PC and it had a functional control scheme.

I can't believe so many people picked "No, it's meant to be played on PC." What does that even mean. It's meant to be played on whatever the developers see fit for it.I understand if they aren't able to if it meant drastically altering it or,if it just wasn't able to be done properly with a controller interface but I'll play any game I'm interested in on whatever I can get my hands on it for whether it be a PC or a console.

If Blizzard does happen to make a console version that is the same or just as good with subtle differences like Dragon Age for example. Then I think that's great for console owners and Blizzard for making sure as many people as possible get to play there game and I'm sure Activision would be happy with that to,bunch of money grubbing whores who care nothing for the artistic merits of the medium I love more than oxygen!...Sorry didn't mean to drift off like that.

I'd probably buy it for the 360. But in the end, I can't imagine playing Diablo as anything but a clicking-frenzy, inventory arranging, PC-based chaos. And you just can't do that as well in a console game.

I mean, can you imagine KinectDiablo? How the heck would that work?

Yes!

A million times yes!

My computer has trouble running Team Fortress 2, let alone Diablo 3!

Why would the PC be better suited for Diablo?
The first Diablo got a pretty good port on the PlayStation 1, and the PS2 and original Xbox got quite a few great Diablo clones, including the previously mentioned Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance titles.
The previous Diablo games were not heavy on keyboard shortcuts, and thus the necessary commands would fit on any post-NES gamepad, and while they used point and click I'd say that design decision was not to it's credit - since Diablo is a solo-RPG, using point and click instead of direct control only added an unnecessary layer between the player and the main character of the game that would only be needed in a party based RPG like Baldur's Gate, Dragon Age and such.
Those of you mentioning the Dragon Age console port as a reason Diablo wouldn't work - they have the exact opposite problems, as party control is a necessity in a game like DA:O - which is arguably best handled with a mouse.
