Hardcore mode was the only mode some years ago...

Yes. Please give me the option to play the game with increased difficulty. Even if I don't use it, it's ago. I just like the option to be available. I usually at least try them.

Depends on the game. Personally, I don't really like "hardcore" modes, but that's because I tend to play for fun rather than for stressing myself out. I do enough of that already with other stuff I get into. x_x

Depends what exactly the "Hardcore" mode means. The hardcore mode in New Vegas looked really cool and was the thing that really made me want to buy it (But I never actually did). Things like that really add to the immersion.

I like the kinds of games where death is more permanant than others, it really makes you think alot more about your actions and choices.

But if a hardcore mode just makes the game harder without changing the gameplay around, well thats not much fun.

I don't mind the option of hardcore modes, even if I don't use them. Others will, and who am I to deny them that privilege?

I'd be more annoyed about the lack of easy (Gears of War!) rather than the lack of hardcore.

hardcore mode tends to make games hard by making them incredibly unfair or just by the good old hp stacking both of which only tend to annoy me

Yeah.

I tend to find games like Diablo really trivial without it.
but but, you lose your character you crazy person!!!! How many if any did you lose? A guy i know lost his lvl 97 barbarian fighting diablo on hell, he was also using some of the more helpful items as in the ones with silly amounts of stats on them you know the ones that have been edited. so you get like +550 strength etc...

Sure I like difficult games, diablo on hell was actually insane. I could barely stand being hit more than once or twice by zombies outside the first camp :/ but losing a character if you die. Not for me.

I never played Diablo but I play the higher difficulties on the games I own. Currently I'm playing Gears of War 2 on Insane. I'm up to the Beast Barge and I've started since last weekend. Taking breaks is a must and I usually leave a spot open for players to join me but usually I go through it on my own. My most favorite difficulty achievements are Gears of War, No More Heroes, Halo 3, and The Warriors.

I like having the option, but it's definitely not always for me. I love playing hardcore in Bad Company 2 and COD4-Black Ops, but not so much for Fallout NV.

I think the majority of the games I play are for the story no matter how ridiculous it may be. Depending on the game I play it on the easiest setting it will allow just to get through it and move on. (DMC3 for example) Yet other games I find the mechanics of play so much fun I can't help but try them on "hardcore" mode. The GoW series, Diablo 2 and Bayonetta were great examples.
