I vote other. I have a saga that is perfect. The Lost Years of Merlin saga, by T.A. Barron. It is a series that deals with the hardly written about younger years of Merlin's life from age 10 to 18.

I had a major problem many years ago, I was a writer that didn't like to read. This series is what got me to like reading.

There are five books in the series. With books, I would recommend making them into a mini series for each book, like nine hours per book. A movie is just too short for books in my opinion, and a full tv series is just too long.

With The Lost Years of Merlin saga, we would get 45 hours of epic storytelling, that would be serious, insightful into the the history of Merlin, and quite humorous.

Here are the books in order, 1 to 5

Once again. None.
I won't endorse decent books turned into shitty series just so untalented fucking hacks can make a quick buck.

Mostly because I keep getting Dresden Files flashbacks.
Oh god yes. It was like they were intentionally trying to piss people off.
I mean theres just the stupid shit like swapping Bob (who was in the unaired pilot) for some ponce with dyed hair, turning Ancient Mai into a hot(ish) chick and the pointless colour scheme swaps (making Morgan black and Murphy a brunette) and then theres just the fucking canon breaking stupidity. Making fucking Bianca Harrys new godmother figure, him beating DuMorne in his 30s... so what? a year before the series takes place? and werewolves transmit their curse by bites. Something the second book took great pains to rule out.

How Jim Butcher could stomach that shit enough to not write/scream "FUCK THE TV SERIES! IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REAL DRESDEN!" every time it is even mentioned is beyond me.
Now I liked the Dresden Tv series, though in all fairness, I never even knew it was a series of books first. I'll most likely rage like you when I finally buy the series and have the time to read it.

Your rage is probably one of the reasons why it didn't last long, 10-12 episodes I think. I seriously liked the episodes, it is definitely in the area of stuff I am interested in. I was just disappointed that it was another one of those shows that I really got into and then BAM, it was gone, a show with great potential but was cut down in its youth.

Another show in that area of tragedy was Firefly. Of course Fox had to pull its usual dick move and cancel it because they were blind to the fact that it was popular. They just don't get that it usually takes more than just one season for a show to get good ratings. The most tragic thing about Firefly was that it could have been saved. The SyFy channel back when it was SiFi, offered to buy the rights to the show from Fox and continue it, but Fox had to be the greedy idiots that they are and say no, that they wanted to keep the rights and let the show die.

Its an Awesome and LOOOONG series that are filled with descriptions to help the idiot script writers...and besides id rather have someone fuck that up rather than mess up the Discworld.

The Night Angel Trilogy

With a Tv show they would have enough time to show everything from the books into a new media :D

I voted Discworld, but I'd love to see Stephen King's The Dark Tower series turned into a television series.
Wasn't HBO or Showtime going to turn Dark Tower into a series? One of them should do Discworld too.
I like the mini series treatments of the Discworld books so far. The special effects weren't that great but I found Hogfather and Color of Magic to be very amusing. Even better than the old cartoons they did a while ago.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing them (HBO, Showtime, or BBC) do Harry Potter tv series when wb loses the license in a century or whatever. The movies started well and are casted really well but started to lose continuity around the 3rd and were completely shelled by the 4th. A tv series would be epic.

Other: Harry Potter. I think a good director and a decent budget would have been much better to the series than trying to shoehorn everything in 7 (well, 7 1/2) movies.
