To be honest, I wouldn't want any of my favourite book series made into TV shows. I can't see any of them working. Especially that atrocity they made of The Sword of Truth series. No, fantasy books shouldn't reach TV. They live in our imagination and that's where they should stay.

Although I might like to see Magician: Apprentice as a TV show (it's trashy enough that I wouldn't be disappointed by changes, but exciting enough to work as a show), I'd really like to see an attempt at Fritz Leiber's classic Lankhmar series.

The Well of Echoes quartet by Ian Irvine. War torn world, monsters/strange creatures, different races, mancery arts, plenty of characters to love/hate. Gripping stuff.

Going off of yesterday's question - which fantasy novel series would you like to see turned into a TV show?

Are you guys retarded? A Game of Thrones IS NOT a fantasy series; it's the first book of the series A song of Ice and Fire! Also, it already HAS it's own television show being run by HBO.

I chose "Other," and I'd vote for The Wheel of Time.

Discworld series are magical, but I felt their film translations weren't as good as the books, so I'd leave them alone. Wheel of Time, however, would be MUCH better condensed into episodic content with all the boring long descriptive and mundane sequences drastically reduced by the format. Instead of having a chapter talking about the dresses the girls are buying, they could do that in 30 seconds and get back to the damn plot -_-U

The Mortal Engines books, a original concept of towns on treads, and scenes that would look pretty damn stunning if done right.
I was going to post something else but this is what really needs to be done. Either a tv series or a full length well directed/scripted/acted movie. Loved that series to death.
Yeah, I'd take a movie of Mortal Engines - it's too epic for a TV series' special effects budget to get right, I'd think.

Lord of the Rings has so much lore it could probably be made into a very intelligent and lengthy show, if done right and released on the right network (HBO or Showtime).

But then there is a chance LotR could be ruined...hmmmm.

Discworld has already been done, and pretty well, although they were more like films. They've got my vote.

Lord of the Rings already has the films, so i don't think it needs one

Wheel of time would be too long by far, methinks

A game of thrones is on such a scale that I'm not sure it'd work but if as I saw earlier in the thread it's being made into a tv series, i'd watch it.

I haven't read the fourth series...

For other, I'd suggest Sword of Shannara, or somesuch. Generic, but I did really enjoy it.

I voted Discworld, but I'd love to see Stephen King's The Dark Tower series turned into a television series.
They're doing a film, then using the TV to bridge the gap (do the parts not quite right for film) between film 1 and 2.

OT: "The Magician: Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flammel" by Michael Scott, and the following books in the series. Or a film of these would be cool.

Ah man, I remember the animated series of Wyrd Sisters and Soul Music when I was a kid. I'd love to see another Discworld animated series from the studio that made those - maybe Thief of Time or Moving Pictures. That'd be great.

I voted for Magician though. It's one of my all time favourite books, so I'd love to see it get adapted to a series, if done well.

It already does, A Song of Fire and Ice, by George RR "Goes To Far With Practical Jokes" Martin.

I'm saying that he wrote the first four books with no intention of releasing the remaining three as a practical joke. It becomes more plausible every day.
In the process of rereading this series again...just started A Feast For Crows. imo I think George feeds off the suffering and anguish of his eagerly awaiting fans.

I remember those series too! I quite liked them and they would count as series. So yes, Discworld HAS been done as a series... on the other hand, I would love to see more of them, so I went with that. Preferably something based in the Unseen University.

I would love to see Syfy or some such channel tackle a series like Forgotten Realms or Dragonlance.
