This. I also recommend reading Darren Shan's Vampire Series aswell, if you haven't read that. That should be a TV series too!
I just finished re-reading it actually becasue it was a few years ago when I read it last. Its still as awesome as ever. Now that I've read it I can go onto reading the Saga of Larten Crepsley without forgetting anything.

Discworld. Except that by TV series, I mean the group who made the three TV films recently for Sky 1 (of Hogfather, The Colour Of Magic/The Light Fantastic, and Going Postal, respectively) need to make even more adaptations like that. Ideally of all of the books, but especially the Watch ones and the Susan Sto Helit ones. And possibly Monstrous Regiment.

I literally bought the first book in the new Saga of Larten Crepsley and finished it yesterday. Quite good, however I finished it quickly but I guess that is because i'm a fast reader.

They're making the First Wheel of Time book into a film...to do the series justice though, I believe a TV series would would best. 12 seasons...one for each book, and somewhere between 10-20 one hour episodes per season? although the Twelfth book may need 2 seasons to complete.

I am currently working my way through the books again as my girlfriend bought me part one of book 12 a few christmases ago and I definitely needed to restart the series.

I finsihed it in a day too, it was great. I love all the little references to things from the Vampire Saga.

The Wheel of Time.

I think that a series would be better than a movie.

You can't really put a WHOLE book into one movie. You'd have to cut out some parts.
In a TV series, you could have the first season as the first book, the second season as the second book, etc.

I am disappoint about the lack of Wheel of Time love.
I would have picked it, but it'd take a week's worth of episodes for something to get though Rand's head. I just don't have that kind of time. Sometimes it's bad enough in the books... :p

I voted Discworld, because as has already been mentioned, they've made movies out of the material before, would it take that much extra effort to turn the novels into a weekly serial? One book could take a month or so.

LOTR, as long as it didn't follow the main plot, and was just in the LOTR world.

Who was that guy at the end of the book? Is it someone new or a reference to someone from the series already? Because if he was, I certainly can't remember.

The Mortal Engines books, a original concept of towns on treads, and scenes that would look pretty damn stunning if done right.

That or the Discworld novels.

The Vlad Taltos saga. Seriously, TV Series need a good cast of memorable recurring characters, and that series has plenty. Plus the books are set up perfectly for a TV series; short little adventures linked together by an intriguing, but not overly important overarching plot.

I think Discworld would make a good tv series. There are already movies, but a series would be nice.

None, None, NONE!!!

If there is any book series that is well-loved enough for us to want more, it is well-loved enough to not want it bastardized as a TV series. What they've done with the existing Discworld TV movies is ok, and what they're doing with the Game of Thrones miniseries on HBO looks promising, but a regular TV series? No thank you!
This!

Silmarillion would work very well as a TV miniseries. I've hoped to see with the production values of LOTR since the Fellowship premiere night, since the book is in some ways superior to LOTR (characters, for example.)
