Nothing, if its going to follow the standard set by Legend of the Seeker. Thanks for ruining one of my favorite book series! -.-
From what I've read of diskworld, and seen in TV specials already. It doesn't really translate very well, some of the comedy is in the wrtting "in-sure-rats salesman" for example.
Lord of the Rings was an epic movie triology, the need isn't there and the two would only ever be compared, and seeing a TV series wouldn't have leading men, direction, production or financial backing of the films, it wouldn't hold up.
Those other books, I havn't read.
I would like to see The Horus Heresy on TV, perhaps it's more suited to an animé rather than live action, each book could probably manage a series (except flight of the Eisenstein which would probably be a running subplot in some of the other series)

I would have to say Discworld as it has a good universe to work in, and it doesn't require any overarching plot. In the other suggestions, the universe in which stories take place isn't actually that interesting without following the main characters. They are mostly very generic fantasy settings.
I would like to suggest R.E. Feist's universe for a series, as it encompasses a multi-verse, so has a grander scope than the other books.
I would love to see a 40K series. Following a new IG trooper or an inquistorial initiate. That would be awesome.

the mortal engines series is being adapted to films if sources ive read recently are to be believed(and they usually tend to be), as for books that would make god series anything from the drenai tales series of books by david gemmell...pitty it'll never happen though.
It already does, A Song of Fire and Ice, by George RR "Goes To Far With Practical Jokes" Martin.
I'm saying that he wrote the first four books with no intention of releasing the remaining three as a practical joke. It becomes more plausible every day.

Went for Wheel of time as first 2 choices are already/going to be series. (Discworld and Game of Thrones)
Discworld adaptations have been good generally despite the AWFUL Going Postal. Can't wait for HBOs Game of Thrones Winter is Coming! [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Winter-is-Coming]
Wheel of Time maylend itself to series as the later books can be more politics than action, but if GoT does well w may see more of these cropping up *cross fingers*

He still has every intention of finishing the books as far as I can tell. He had other projects before ASoIaF and has dedicated to continue those for that fanbase despite the popularity of the newer series (plus aDwD is nearly finished as far as we can tell)! /fanboy defenseFrozen Donkey Wheel2 said:

A few good miniseries have been made already. It would be hard to do something besides a miniseries, especially given how Discworld has a ton of completely separate character story arcs. But if Pratchett was on board, anything would be good.
