Right, so as gamers we all consider ourselves to have plenty of knowledge about games, right? And we all have other interests, and we all reckon we have plenty of knowledge about those too, naturally. But sometimes, you just want to know something that Google or Wikipedia won't tell you, and you've nowhere else to turn.

So here, ask any question you want about any film, book, game, album, whatever. Anything that has a story or characters, any sort of media, you can ask your questions here, and anyone else can answer them. For example, I can probably answer any question anyone has regarding Lost or post-2005 Doctor Who. And someone else will probably know everything there is to know about Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon. So, everyone fire away, and we will answer!

Speaking of Lost... I quite around the end of Season 3. Does it ever make any actual sense?

A gaming related question: Does anyone know how to Beat Sir Sweet in Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? I simply don't have the stamina to jam on square that long...

Edit: Might as say what I can answer about...

I can answer most questions regarding Neon Genesis Evangelion and a good few other animes, Disgaea 1 and 2, Star Ocean 3 and 4, Prince of Persia, possibly a bit about Cthulhu, and so much more (aka, I can't think of all I can answer at the moment.)

Damnit I knew I should have posted this thread first, I considered doing it a few months ago.

Anyway:

In Tali's loyalty mission she gets her name changed and says "That's as good as declaring me exiled already", why does she not get to have her name changed back if you stop her being exiled? Obviously she may choose not to, but I'd have thought the suggestion would have been made by the admirals.

It seemed strange to me.

Does anyone else realise that it actually has quite a deep story, one which simply isn't shown in the game-play?

Also that the characters are not simply macho-men who try and act badass, but are merely covering up the fact they are psychologically damaged due to everything they have gone through?

Yes, but it's a hell of a lot different from how it started, it gets a little supernatural.

EDIT:

If anyone wants to ask about the following series I can probably help:

Lost
Gears of War
Bioshock

What Gundam series was playing in the late 90s on Cartoon Network, there are to many to go through and I simply don't have the time.

No guarantees, but I could probably take any questions about Super Mario 64 or seasons 1-5 of House... or Teachers (the old British TV show, although the fact that I'm bothering to explain what it is kinda means it's unlikely anyone will remember it or have anything to ask about it).

I see. So they couldn't figure out a way to answer anything naturally and just decided it was 'magic'?

Got a question about Lost, too... some of my friends have repeatedly recommended this show to me, yet I have absolutely no idea what it's about and all I ever get to hear is, "Watch it, you'll see", which isn't good enough for me. I tried hunting for clues on the web, but I quickly noticed that most of the info on display is spoilerific, so I steered clear.
Can you tell me why I should watch this show, and can you give me the basic premise of Lost in a few sentences?

-EDIT- Oh yeah, I have a wide knowledge of Warhammer 40.000, so on the off chance anyone has any questions, fire away, I'll answer to the best of my knowledge. (Just quote this so I know there's a question for me to answer.)

Depends on what Gundam era/storyline/style you want. In the 90s it was Gundam Wing and Mobile Suit Gundam: 08th MS Team. If you want actual teamwork and Gundams that break down, you want 08.

Not quite (major spoilers ahead):

The island is basically purgatory. A being (looks like a man) called Jacob is tasked with keeping "evil" at bay (the black smoke, who takes on the appearance of the now deceased John Locke) and he needed a successor (everyone on the plane are candidates) as he was going to be killed (and he has been). Each of the normal crew could replace him but not if they die.

As for why he needs them, or why he allowed himself to die we don't know yet, nor do we know if this is true, or simply a lie told by Jacob.

Unless you watch all of it there is no point as you will get confused very quickly (not insulting your intelligence, but it's on the 6th season and we still don't know exactly what's going on).

Basically it begins with a plane crash on an island and the survivors building a camp etc. They realise they are not alone and have a conflict with the people already on there. It turns out the island has scientific facilities on it and there were actually two opposing factions on the island prior to the crash.

It then gets a little more science fiction in the 5th and 6th seasons. It's good, but drags on too much and takes a strange direction compared to the first 3/4 seasons.

I see... It's not too far fetched, yet it is. Welp, thanks for the knowledge.

well her full name is Tali'zorah Vas'neema Na'rayya. the first section is her name, the second is her current ship alleigance and the third is her father's name. she could've had her name changed permanently but i reckon it's more likely that that element of a quarian's name changes whenever they take a new captain. in a semi-derelict fleet the quarians would change ships quite frequently and the cantankerous admiral implies he could change his name by taking command of a new ship. i'd imagine that she started as vas'neema, changed to vas'normandy in the first game, changed back and changed a final time for her loyalty mission. it wouldn't've been mentioned before since it wasn't an issue and in fact she only uses the sections of her name corresponding to the usual structure in the first game, individual name followed by family name.

so essentially i'd say that quarian shipnames change a lot and that tali was only surprised in her loyalty mission because it implied her ship was cutting ties with her because of the trial.
Fair enough, I was aware of
Them changing ship names when they finish their pilgrimage (Rayya being her birth ships name and Neema being her new ships) but I hadn't though of the idea of her being Normandy as long as she was on there.

It makes sense, from a story point of view, it just felt like something that needed a little explanation to me in-game.

Thanks for the answer.

What was the name of that short lived anime series in the late 90s or early 2000s that ran on Toonami and featured something about a mermaid?

Just in case no one can answer that, heres the Wiki page with all of the shows, do you remember anything about it other than a mermaid.

No, but I think it might have been Mermaid Forest.

I saw the logo for it and it looked familiar.

Also, thanks for that link! I've just remembered the names of all my favorite childhood anime shows.

Outlaw Star, Ronin Warriors, The Big O, Tenchi Muyo! and Yu Yu Hakisho were all my favorites

Hey, I remember that. Good times.

Is there anyone who doesn't have some sort of question about Lost? I mean really.
