TEH EGG!!! The first member of the species we call a chicken must have been born at some point, and what do you think that creature was born out of??!? Don't bother saying "Aha!! But what laid the egg in the first place??" because that was obviously not a chicken, existing one generation before the chicken species.

Actually the "chicken and egg question" is a sneaky/covert way of asking if you are a new-world creationist or if you believe in evolution.

The only people that find it unanswerable are those that don't think there is a conflict with the notion with God creating and guiding evolution. But then it's still the wild ansestor of the chicken - proto-chicken/archaeopteryx - raptor - early theorpods dinosaur - amphibians - tiktaalik - osteo/bony fish - carteledge fish - lamprey/hagfish - sea cucumber/first chordate - sludgey-thing-that-made eggs. Go back as far as you want.
