Douglas Adams said:
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.
...and that's an understatement.

"Courage is always greatest when blended with meekness; intellectual ability is most admired when it sparkles in the setting of modest self-distrust; and never does the human soul appear so strong as when it foregoes revenge and dares to forgive any injury."

"No right thinking person will knowingly commit wrong"

It's nice to believe that when bad things happen, it's because the person is wrong, not the world.

That one lost its appeal for me when marketing departments started spamming it at the general public.

"There's an old joke. Uh, two elderly women are at a Catskills mountain resort, and one of 'em says, "Boy, the food at this place is really terrible." The other one says, "Yeah, I know, and such small portions." Well, that's essentially how I feel about life. Full of loneliness and misery and suffering and unhappiness, and it's all over much too quickly." - Woody Allen

"How can I believe in God when just last week I got my tongue caught in the roller of an electric typewriter?" - Woody Allen
And my all-time favourite:

"The soul is dyed the color of its thoughts. Think only on those things that are in line with your principles and can bear the light of day. The content of your character is your choice. Day by day, what you choose, what you think, and what you do is who you become. Your integrity is your destiny ... it is the light that guides your way." - Heraclitus

My main thing which I live by is my belief that guys look fucking stupid in cardigans. I know a lot of guys (I believe it's the current fashion) who wear these women's jumpers and they look so ridiculous it actually makes me angry. Women wear cardigans, men wear sweaters/hoodies, that's just how it should be. So I believe I'll get through life just fine so long as I never wear a bloody cardigan

Quotes from films/TV which I just love/live by:
"I'm a mushroom cloud-laying ************, ************!" - Pulp Fiction
"Do or do not, there is no try" - Yoda, The Empire Strikes Back
"So say we all" - Admiral William Adama, Battlestar Galactica
"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few... or the one" - Spock, The Wrath Of Khan

"Dear Roberta Sparrow, I reached into your book and... there's so many things i need to ask you. Sometimes I'm afraid of what you might tell me. Sometimes I'm afraid that you'll tell me that this is not a work of fiction. I can only hope that the answers will come to me in my sleep. I hope that when the world comes to an end, I can breathe a sigh of relief because there will be so much to look forward to." -Donnie

"Every generation needs a new revolution." - Thomas Jefferson

"I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off. " -Tyler

"People are like Slinky's. They serve no purpose whatsoever, but you can't help but laugh when one of them falls down a flight of stairs.

And yes, I did make an account just to reply to this.

First of all, great thread. Secondly:
Terry Pratchett said:
Then take the universe and grind it down to the finest powder, and sieve it through the finest sieve, and then show me one atom of justice, one molecule of mercy. And yet, you try to act as if there is some ideal order in the world. As if there is some, some rightness in the universe, by which it may be judged.
