Today I cried a little after reading this interview.

Why do they have to go and fuck up one of the best gaming series of all time. I can already see the dumbed down version with quicktime events and fancy animated action scenes... The staying true to "hardcore fans" is probably an option that turns off the "tooltips".

Don't they understand the whole charm of the previous hitman games was the fucking difficulty level and the fact that you had to figure out pretty much everything yourself.... FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!
I think you may be overreacting. Company bigwigs are very often morons who make statements such as this one. It may be total bullshit, or the game may be simply more accessible, like all of the Splinter Cell titles after the first one. The AI does sound pretty exciting, if they actually pull it off anything like what he's saying.

Because some games are very close to our hearts and we are worried (yes I agree we sometimes overreact) but we usually have valid reasons, so many gaming series have gone down the drain because the devs think they have found new ways to attract new customers, which very often instead alienates their core audience and fans who bought the previous games which then results in bad sales and the entire series being scrapped.
Well you know what

Fuck the fans

Lets the developers do what ever they want with their games

Mass Effect 2 was "dumbed down" compared to Mass Effect but it was a lot better game
Shogun 2 was "dumbed down" compared to Empire Total War
World Of Warcraft is a completely different genera compared to the Other games and the result is one of the best games ever

Another thing

Did it ever hit some people that Hitman games were hard because they where a bit broken?
Dont really remember them being that broken.

What i loved about the old games was the fact that on harder difficiulties you had limited or no saves, that if you ran, guards would get suspicious, that even if you had a disquise they would spot you if you got to close for longer periods, you had to use your wits and your brains to beat the levels, especially if you wanted to get the silent assassin level. I agree that the Hitman games are not everybodys cup of tea and I had my fair share of emoragequits while playing some of the levels but that is also why i love the games so much

Jeez, man, chillax. They said they were going to broaden the audience without alienating their hardcore crowd. This is easily implemented in a stealth mechanic game since you can go guns blazing in easy difficulty or be sneak and smart in a harder one.Have some faith in the designer.

Heh, I loved the Hitman series. But I don't kid myself, most of my missions turned into a bloodbath. There is a reason I always brought a silenced submachine gun to a mission.

I would like to say I'm optimistic about this, there were some issues with the earlier games but for the most part they were solid and fun.

Given that its the same studio at least the "feel" should be about right, if it was someone else working on it I would be worried.

Yeah, its fucking stupid.

The games weren't fucking hard to begin with, unless hard these days is regarded as something that makes you stop and think for two fucking seconds, maybe even - SHOCK HORROR - explore a level somewhat to find stuff to help you.

If people are too stupid for it, then tell them to play something else. I'd like to play the Total War games, but since I can't wrap my head around them, I don't fucking play them. I don't expect the developers to pander to me.

Considering this is basically the first thing they've announced about the game, I'd say its more of a design focus as opposed to a full-retard difficulty mode.

dissapointing but hopefully it will bring new people to the franchise without actually diluting the quality... although ive yet to see a game actually accomplish that
CoD 4, New Super Mario Bros. (both of em'), Mega Man 9, Mass Effect 2, Assassin's Creed 2, and, uhm, others.

Normally I'm all for making a game more accessible if its too hard (because I am the kind of gamer who doesn't enjoy overt difficultly or games being inaccessable or basically any games that "hardcore" gamers label as classics) but the Hitman series hasnt been too difficult since the very first game. Hitman 2 was verging on difficult. Contracts was average. Blood Money was fairly easy (but also the best game of the series in many ways). Take it down any further and we're definitely going to begin losing some quality. I've heard a bunch of things about this game that make me very skeptical as a fan of the series.

You really need to wait for the game to come out before bashing it. Is this the new thing now? We have enough "ME3 will be shit/omg no more rpg elements etc" threads. Let's just wait and see. If it goes down like you say it will, I'll join your rally

The hardcore element of the games was achieving silent assassin rankings on every level. If they keep it difficult in that respect then I'm not worried.

Besides controls for the game are pretty ropey, so its good they're gonna fix them.
