People should be judge based on the content of their character and not by the color of their skin or the history of their background or their religious belief. Civil rights means letting the past go and working towards a new future that has let go of what has been. When we drag up the things of the past we reinforced the old prejudices and hatred. Never let anyone hold something over you because of what happened in the past, He is being just as prejudice as the people he cried out against.

I hate when black people talk about slavery and how bad they had it.

They had slaves too, fuck every race had slaves at one point, what makes them so special? Why are white people the only "evil" ones when it comes to slavery?

Most of the black slaves back then were sold to the white man by other blacks (tribal warfare they called it)

Racists are twats. Pure and simple. It seems the human race has an inred ability to find divisions in ourselves on such simple and foolish things.

So ye, fuck you racists and go jump in a fire. Wanks.

BUT, you fuckers who start shit because you pull out a racism card. You are even fucking worse, fire is to good for you and you're not helping youselves or as you so passionately put it, "your people". Get a grip nut-bunnies. Or see above on what to do. Ye, thats right. Fire. Jump.

By Grandfathers: Third generation Scot, Third generation Dutch.

By grandmothers: (this gets confusing) There is a good chunk of Irish and English as well as Metis (french-aboriginal), and more Irish.

So there, I am a mutt of epic proportions.

I also hate how white Anglo-Saxon males cannot get scholarships.

Eh, it's important to remember the atrocities of the past... but that doesn't warrant the special treatment many people receive.
That said, most of my ancestors were either brutal killers or imperialistic land-grabbers... or both. So maybe I'm just a little bitter about not having any injustices to complain about.

Really you don't see the difference between slaves from 2000 years ago and the fact that a nation in the modern era owned slaves for several hundred years effectively creating modern day super powered America? And when they finally came to the end of slavery and instead of saying thanks for free labour and basically 80% profit for hundreds of years went on to segregate and disown a whole race?

I mean i'm not saying its right to ***** about how bad slavery was and that people should get a pass because of it but dude this is just being completely ignorant.

I'm a Western European asshole, born into what is probably lower middle class. We're not rich or wealthy, but we also don't have a shortage of food or clothing etc. As to bloodline, apparently one of my ancestors was royalty, being the bastard offspring of a servant and a prince. The only thing that gives me is the right of a special scholarship if I ever make it to university.

I wish I was the desendant of dragons or something. That'd be awesome.

Btw. All humans come from Africa. We're all the same. Deal with it. Religious pricks. Go East Africa!

Let's just unite under the banner of mankind and conquer the galaxy, please. I don't want to die from running out of room to live. Or food. Or air.

My family comes from Switzerland, so therefore I am responsible for slavery, colonialism, subjugation of natives in Canada, and the holocaust.

Oh, wait. Switzerland had nothing to do with any of those, and even if it did, it would have been the government's fault, not mine.

So yes, I am tired of it. We had a whole topic in school about how colonialism was bad and all, which makes me laugh. These African countries wanted the Europeans out. Well, they left. Now look at the shithole Africa has become. Yet they blame the Europeans for that, too.

Or some natives in Canada. They get tax breaks, free stuff, and money. Yet they're still constantly complaining that this land belongs to them, or that they should be getting special treatment.

It happened 100+ years ago, guys. Stop complaining. And stop calling me a "SILLY WHITE BOYYY", because my ancestors had nothing to do with any of this.

Western European with some Native American. The only thing I get from the NA blood is shitty facial hair growth... Other than that I'm as white looking as white can look.

Personally, I find it far more annoying when asked what race they are online, people feel the need to tell you every single race and nationality that has ever entered their gene pool.

As for what you're talking about, at times, a little, but that's because racist attitudes have also carried over.

There's also the fact that racism didn't magically end with slavery and continues to be a factor in the U.S. We still have hate crimes based on race and religion. And there's still massive under-representation of women and minorities in positions of power.[footnote]I'm not saying we should enforce quotas or that everyone *should* be represented completely equally.[/footnote]

Well, I'm of British and Nordic descent, so I'm pretty much as masterful as the races come.

I'm kidding, just kidding. Seriously, just kidding.

Anyway, yeah I don't feel guilty at all for what some of my ancestors have done. Some of them might have been raping and pillaging Vikings (and slaving, 'slavic' comes from being enslaved, which is what many of the Nordic countries did, I share a last name with Dick Turpin, a famous Highwayman, which doesn't necessarily mean we're distantly related, but if we happen to be, I don't feel guilty for what he did either.

EDIT: Also, I don't like the racial classifications of 'black', 'white', 'asian' etc, especially when the genetic diversity is greater.

For example, I wouldn't identify as the same race as someone from Italy (who is a native Italian, etc, but I can't remember the racial classification, I think it's 'Mediterranean' but I'm not quite sure) because we don't share similar traits.

EDIT 2: Same goes for the other 'colours' as well.

I know man. They sold each other to slavery, but now, everyone acts like the big, bad white man just came to their country and kinapped everyone(which they did, sometimes, mostly bought slaves from other africans.)

OT: I'm white, but with some jewish heritage, so I'm apparently racist and greedy.

I am Indian/Pakistani/Hindustani/Khoja from dad's side and Mexican/Native American from mom's side. So I guess my dad's ancestors were oppressed by the British. I personally have no reason to hate the British (my grandfather did, since they were still around when he was alive), It's pointless to hate someone just because their ancestors did something bad to yours, they're dead.

I'm just going to make a list of my ethnic background, you'll understand why:
-German (actually Prussian)
-Russian
-Sicilian (2nd generation Sicilian-American)
-Irish
-French
-Polish
-Dutch

My last name is the Russian word for wolf, my first and middle names are heavily steeped in the Christian religion (I'm not Christian in the slightest). The Sicilian bloodline can trace back through the Mafia, Nazi's with the Germans, and my dad's dad was a hitman for Al Capone.

So, honestly, I stopped caring what people thought about me a long time ago. Yes, racists are stupid, but there isn't much that we can do about them cause racism controlled this nation at one point and it still has a nasty grip in some places.

well being 23 generations English my families past has a lot to account for.. mainly commanding troops during the crusades and running slave vessels during the 17th Century..

So basically I must be evil... hmm..

What your family or ancestors did in the past is irrelevant to any person who claims it does. Anything that happens before one is born has no effect on said person. For all I know anything prior to 3:03 am, 19th September, 1993 didn't necessarily exist anyway for me so I can't really use my long heritage as an excuse to gain respect..

And people who apologize for the slave trade on its 200th anniversary, c'mon peeps, everyone who had it rough in the Atlantic slave trade is dead, buried, rotted and gone. Saying sorry helps no-one, unless of course the victims are still alive, somehow..

TBQH - we should just forget about what different 'race' we are and just pretend that if you have two legs/arms one head, stand upright and are colored black to white then you are human, no categorizing people, that just leads to problems..

I am Dutch all the way through I even checked our family tree and as far back as we could check it (around 1750) I am entirely Dutch.
Same thing here, worst was knowing they all lived in the same area too and I can't remember any one of them doing anything special or interesting, probably just farmers and shit. Talk about dull.

Ya i'm not exactly for or against Affirmative Action but for some reason people assume that a position that should've gone to a qualified white male is now going to an unqualified Black male or White female or something and that's not how that works.
