Racism of all forms is wrong. The thing is that when a black man is racist towards a white man, its insulting. When a white man is racist towards a black man, the black mans school gets underfunded, he is denied from a job he is qualified to do which would support his family, and there kids start getting treated as second class citizens. That's why people freak out more over white people being racist, because when they are racist its a lot easier for them to be discriminatory.
No way dude, Black people Have exclusive Schools, exclusive T.v Stations And shows.
If A white person is racist He'll go To court And apologise 80 times While he gets insulted Over the next few weeks, i've seen it happen a few times, On Tv And such

If a white guy is racist to a black guy the friggin news copter is on his ass, but if a black guy is racist to a white guy, some people congratulate them! I know white people are retarded! I am Irish and Welsh, the really white people, and I HATE white people. Even tho it was ALL white peoples fault for slavery, I think that African Americans should just stop playing that old card. Segregation in the 40s is slowly dying too. The only ones left alive from that are old grandparents. This is just my opinion.

Racism? Like... 'white people can't rap or play basketball' racism? Oh yeah. That's the same as slavery.
Racism isnt the same as slavery, its associated with slavery but thats it like racism against Jews was mainly cause they where seen as always being rich.
The black slaves was definitely a form of racism...

My point was, is it in the same league? This apparent 'anti-white' slavery that I have never in my life encoutered.

I think it was Morgan Freeman who said that the best way to get over racism is to stop talking about it. That's sage advice right there.[/quote]

why is it a big deal if a white man is racist to a black man

but if a black man is racist to a white man its like "who gives a shit"
Usually the white man is in a position of power such that he can deny the black man something he needs or wants, where as the black man is rarely in the position where he can deny the white man what he needs or wants.

That is why there is so much fear over Obama's supposed racism. Finally a black man is in that position of power and some people are scared.

Racism is a big deal when people are punished for something they have no control over, like skin color, or circumstances of birth. I think it is because we can empathize more with some one who is discriminated against for their birth than choices they made. For example Hitler (Godwins law) is reviled for killing Jews, who were condemned for the situation of their birth. He also killed off a great many of his political opponents, but we don't care about them as much because they made the choice to get into politics and the choice to oppose Hitler.

Being a white victim of racial violence, I've thought about this, and here is what I have:

It's because white people are afraid that pointing out any negative quality in a black person will make them look racist. Not only that, but there has been so much cultural shame heaped up on white people about racism that we're even afraid of the word.

I think that this guy has the right idea:

I could probably bet you that at just about every country and ever ethnicity has been used as slaves before.
European mercantilist/imperialist/industrialist exploitation involved more than just slavery. Its brand of slavery diverged significantly from most other forms of historic slavery. The nature of European expansion set the tone for how they treated the cultures they encountered. European military supremacy made it possible to conquer and practically dismantle entire nations. Since Europeans were traveling so far afield in their search for new resources, the people they encountered were largely cultures previously unknown to them; the lack of any pre-existing understanding made it easier for them to treat others without empathy of conscience -- racialist beliefs (common to almost all pre-modern cultures) exploded into the most dehumanizing and rigidly institutionalized form of racism the world has ever seen.

And it just got worse and worse over time. The Industrial Revolution brought massive increases in production thanks to new machinery, but demanded lots of hazardous and mechanistic human labor to fill the gaps in the production pipeline. For example, American slavery achieved its worst excesses in the 19th century, after independence, when there was a need for massive industrialized farm labor to provide the raw materials for gin factories.

To put it mildly:
Rome had a fucked-up social system, but the Belgian Congo was an atrocity.

Well, OP, that situation right there is dumb as shite but it would still happen because that's how people are. Racism is discrimination on the basis of one's race (but since we're all human, it doesn't really exist), so any "race" can be racist to one another. History has nothing to do with it, it's the freakin' definition. Racism does not simply apply to those of black origin like antisemitism applies to Jews. The problem is that people are ignorant and stupid, and should be smacked upside the head many times until they realize the problem. Many humans pretend that race is real, and that it is only racism if you discriminate against a minority. This is not true, and in response to the slightly vapid title, yes, there is racism against whites, but since not many of them are actually white, (that would be albinos) probably more around pale tan or dark tan, the whole situation makes no sense.

So, pretty much everyone is wrong.

I being a black person think it is unfair. If it is not okay for a white man to be racist, it should not be okay for a black man to be racist. Now, if there are any 200 year old ex-slaves, then they have a right to be. Or black people should only do the same with a 200 year old ex-slave driver. Other than that, no one has been a slave in there life that is alive today and the same with slave owners. People should not blame others for things their (insert specific number of greats) grand parents did to someone elses (same thing) grandparents. But some people are afraid of people unlike them.

Yes, but I doubt it would have made a difference with or without the slave trade, Rwanda would have still been fucked up by the Belgium and German colonists, separating the Hutu's and Tutsi's.

Depends. If it's a racist joke, we should all be able to laugh, because it's all in good context. If someone is offensively bashing you, no matter what, that's wrong. Maybe it's that white people were so prejudiced against other races, so they can get back at us. Come on, be a sport, and let them have a free punch-in-the-gut.

Brush it off and keep moving, Caucasian's are a big boy, we can take it. It's not right, but we shouldn't make a big deal out of it. Unless it's a big deal, I guess. Someone saying "honky" to you in the street should be funny, not offensive.

I really don't get offended at things. All in context and understanding, right?
