my grandmother is hitler. she hates every race that isnt her own...including her own. shes like a female mexican uncle ruckus; racist to everyone but some perceived aryan master race. not to say that race is NEARLY the extent of her irrational hatred, but she is very racist. my father, in his endless effort to become eurotrash, hates all american whites (he is american).

My family is Jewish so we're fairly tolerant. But my mom HATES stupid people if that counts.

I just had dinner with my family (hmmm, cheeseburger), and we were having a.. well, interesting conversation. Well not so much a conversation as it was my brother spewing hate about black people and saying how he wishes to put them on an island and bomb it. Real interesting indeed.
Sadly most of my family members are like this, so when I expressed a different opinion they just looked at me with this weird look on their faces, "you don't hate people because of their colour, boy what's wrong with you?"
Well it didn't take me long to finish eating and hurry back upstairs.

I'm sure most people have at least one family member like this (if not, you are one lucky bastard), so..
Post your horror stories about good ol' racist aunt Sally and jew-hating uncle Jim, and seek comfort.

Deep seeded morals left alone become hard to uproot. Wrote that shit myself pretty nice huh?

I guess its a case of "they don't know better" since they were raised to think that most likely (a good number of this generation's non-native adults/teens have parents from another country).

My would always spout racial slurs when something happens involving someone else, but I've learned to just ignore it since arguing with her results in nothing.

well lucking at all these posts my family is apparently one of the most accepting families out there, maybe its because we're mostly Canadian?

I have dated girls from many different races and brought them home to meet my parents and grandparents and they are nothing but completely accepting. They currently love my asian girlfriend and are just waiting for us to get married. It's kind of disparaging to see all these tales of racism both subtle and not so subtle from all these posters but then again i'm not one of those crazy people who claim that racism has been dead for a long time.

My grandmother is a bigot. She lives in an Asian community and there are only about five white people on her street. Her walls are paper thin, and has been talking to us about the 'Pakis' and their 'Paki children' in the past. None of them have ever caused her any harm, and she has this interpretation of them. Fair enough, some of the 7/7 bombers came from around her area, but that doesn't mean that she can be racist about all of them. I don't get along with her anyway after she told me before that I would never get a girlfriend and is deeply insulting whenever she is provoked. Haven't been to see her in two years. She does visit sometimes but I don't really acknowledge her. Call me petty, but her racist attitude and her attitude towards me piss me off to the full.

Is it bigoted to not like inner-city people? It's not about race, but how they act. They're rude, loud, and obnoxious, only caring about themselves. (Oh yeah... Just walk in front of the car in the middle of the street, then whine and complain when you get hit. They invented cross-walks for a reason, people.) They don't speak English correctly. They don't care about education at all. They mooch off the government (my tax dollars) and don't even want to improve themselves. (This is the vital sticking point. If they wanted to better themselves, I might respect them, despite their circumstances.)

So, if that's bigotry, then I and my family are bigots.

And, unfortunately, it probably does look like racism from the outside. We're white and we live in Baltimore, Maryland, which is over 70% black. Therefore, statistically, 70% of the idiots in Baltimore are black.
Of course, in the public mindset, a white person not liking a black person for any reason is seen as racism, even if the reason for it is not their skin color.

the EU has a site that keeps track of a rediculous amounts of statistics, its on there, as well as on certain sites my own government keeps up.
also, it has been on the news ( multiple papers, all across the spectrum of newspapers) multiple times.
so sorry to say, yes, i have sources. and its not my claim, its a fact.
also, whats wrong with my post per-se? i was just stating that everyone round here was kinda racists-ish to muslims and maroccans and the like, the rest, is kinda just telling people about the statistics, although, indeed, i did forget to mention to say i was talking about the netherlands, its probably not as bad elswhere.

The way I saw it, you're suggesting that certain races have a disposition for criminality, based on these statistics. To think such is to completely misunderstand those statistics.

Oh, and also, do you have a link to those statistics perchance?

So you have more loyalty towards some random black guy than you do to your family?

You don't have to like like their comments, but you CERTAINLY don't have to come here and miscall them for it.

no i dont suggest that, or at least, im not trying to.
all I am saying is that certain groups of people are over-represented in crime figures, and that this is a basis of people here disliking said groups.
i never gave an explenation as to WHY these people are generally, more criminal.

netherlands, the year 2001 is the first thing i could find for you,
roughly translated from dutch, so some names for certain groups could be different in english.
200.495 convictions made,
138.146 were non-natives, 62.349 natives
devided by groups: Marokkans 12.243,
Turks 8.052,
Antillianen 7.981,
Surinamers 14.824
and other 19.339. according to these numbers 31% of convicts would be non-nativeswhich coincides with a police report from 1998. back then they did not like to report this because it sounded realy high
when you take into acount the actual amount of these people IN the countrythen you find that Marokkans commit 4,9 times the amount of crimes, turks 2,7 times, Antillianen 9,4!times, Surinamers 5,6times and others 1.9 times as many crimes as natives.

My city being pretty much all italians(I'm in CAnada not Italy) my granparents are quite racist against the italians of our city. I think there is just too many, but don't hate them or anything(they make good sausage) Anyways, some east-indians have been moving into our city and now everyone in my family is being racist against them and saying;

I'm from rural North Carolina. While I loathe the stereotype of the racist southerner, it does exist for a reason.

My brother was one, and probably the worst I've known for any length of time (he spent a year of high school living across the street from a ranking member of the KKK).

My dad is the generalist, in that he hates races, but has individuals who are his friends.

My mom is the lazy racist, who blames everything wrong with the world on one race or another (depending on if the problem is white collar or not), unless someone raises an eyebrow and then she backpedals quickly.

I'll have a laugh at a racially charged joke, but I also don't make the distinction of whoever the target race is. If the joke is funny, I have a laugh, even if its aimed at my race.
