Racists in your family

My mother says that she is against all racism, but she also says Romanians are all gypsies and theives.

My dad Respects anyone who learns to speak english and works, everyone else is a "lazy foreigner who will play the system so they can get a free house, have loads of kids and kill our national identity whilst saying we supress their beliefs and constantly playing the racism card whilst costing me - the tax payer, money, so that all documents can be translated for them whilst their kids do not learn a word of english either" (without stopping for breath) or something along those lines, oh and he reads The Sun.

My brother says "ooooooh you cant say that" around anybody who says a racial slur.

My grandparents assume that everyone who is asian's surname is "Patel" and that all black people are going to take your tv when you let them in your house, oh and they dislike "ze germans".

My grandparents call blacks "negroes" or how you would translate "Neger". They don't mean it like that though, when they were young those words were not meant as an insult. We don't talk about blacks too often, too.

So no, I don't have any racists in my family and I'm glad. I couldn't stand the thought of someone in my family having those ideas, or worse, talking about this topic but no one notices that this is false but me.

My grandparents are like that. A bit, they are more like that because they hadn't ever seen a black/yellow/red/green/anything other than white person in the flesh, so they are afraid of them in a silly way.

It's more ignorance than any real hatred.

And of course they insist in using language that was okay when they were young, but it's not acceptable behaviour anymore.

None of my family is racist. We couldn't really care what race someone is. If they are a dick, we call it like we see it. If you're OK and not done any harm to us, then we will like you. It doesn't matter what race someone is, everyone is equally adept at causing harm and causing good, race, gender etc doesn't matter, it boils down to the personality of the individual, at least thats what I have been told growing up.
Treat everyone equally, in short.

Honestly, I didn't really grow up in a racist household. I came from a military family, so we all learned how to work together and diversify and blah blah blah blah blah. You know, the same PC stuff you're always taught. Guess I was pretty lucky.

well not TECHNICLY racism, as its not so much judged on their race, but on the statistic probability of someone of a said race, being a tottal ass-hat criminal XD
muslims, maroccans, etc. and this goes for pretymuch every simpleton in a radius of a few miles around me XD

but jeah, its just a bit.. too easy for them to be like that, i mean, its a bit weard if a certain population group is just 3, 4 times as much likely to commit a crime/violent crime then normal people, and a least a third has before they even become adult.. :/

well, yes, realy XD lol.
the EU has a site that keeps track of a rediculous amounts of statistics, its on there, as well as on certain sites my own government keeps up.
also, it has been on the news ( multiple papers, all across the spectrum of newspapers) multiple times.
so sorry to say, yes, i have sources. and its not my claim, its a fact.
also, whats wrong with my post per-se? i was just stating that everyone round here was kinda racists-ish to muslims and maroccans and the like, the rest, is kinda just telling people about the statistics, although, indeed, i did forget to mention to say i was talking about the netherlands, its probably not as bad elswhere.

Didnt know that there are so many blacks in the east.

I'd actually like to know how many black people do live in Eastern Europe. For some reason I cannot picture it ever. Also with ginger people.

Inversely, my dad is probably the most racist in my family; my grandparents either are broad-minded, or I've simply never heard them be racist. Having a mix of Irish/Jewish/Northern English origins, histories rife with persecution (as the north of England would tell you especially ), might make them disinclined to be high and mighty about other races.

I am very biased towards people who I don't feel share my personal culture though, however this can apply to someone of any race, especially people who use violence as a means of kidding around (getting punched in the chest and being told "I'm only messin'" kindles hatred). My school has a major race problem too. African-British and Asian-British folk don't seem to like each other much here (not sure what that had to do with anything).

My dad's homophobic, but then again he does hate pretty much everyone but himself.
He once complained about the Liberal Democrats for submitting to Conservatives, the Conservatives for being nice to rich people, Labour for failing to run the country, and everyone for not voting Labour back in.

My boyfriend didn't used to be racist, but since he moved to a certain area of London which has a large Muslim Arab/Lebanese population he is often heard to moan about 'those fucking Arabs.'
Reasons being:
-The burqa is ridiculous.
-The Arab shopkeepers nearby themselves are racist against white people, in the sense that when you go in there they stare at you and don't speak english until you get embarrassed and leave;
-The standard of safe driving, and driving without speakers on high playing bangra/rap is abominable among many young arab men.
-Trying to go down the street during Eid or -God forbid- drive your car is taking your life into your own hands because everyone is shouting and honking car horns all night and no-one is looking where they're going. Honking car horns at night is also genreally acceptable. Also shouting on the street. It's cultural!!

I've got a racist uncle and a bit of a racist friend. Though my racist friend is far from hate filled, it's more like ...how do I put this without coming off as an asshole...

His father is a cop and a majority of the people he has trouble with is [blank] so it's become a bit of a thing on them both I guess. I just ignore it, not hard to considering the amount of racist shit you hear on any xboxlive game.

I myself am a little racist against die hard religious people, but then again I would think that it is less racism and more a problem with letting something controll their life?

My dad doesn't hate anybody, he just loves to make fun of them from time to time. For example, when he saw a grouping of natives for something or other on the news, he said "Hey look! It's a AA meeting!"

Well, my grandmother hates pretty much every race on earth other than Whites, especially Turks, Blacks and Asians.
She makes negative comments whenever a black man appears on TV and often reminded me to "Watch out for those Negroes" when going to town.
Oh, and occasionally she will say great stuff like "Say what you want about Hitler, but at least the streets were clean back then". Interpret that as you will.

Other than that there are no racists in my family, although my father doesn't like Britains all that much, if you can count that as racism.

I know a lot of people here hate immigrants, which I can understand considering most I've met aren't nice people in the least (with exceptions, ofcourse) and they can't seem to handle their children at all. Strangely enough my family never really talks about them, but absolutely hate black people even though there's one black family in the neighbourhood.

But yea, I was wrong to say there's so little racism here, I didn't really think that reply through. I guess I just had the classic 'I hate you because of your skincolour' in mind.
