Rage: more than just a fallout rip off?

Uh, post-apocalyptic =/= Fallout rip off. This whole rip-off nonsense is getting ridiculous...

When I first saw the trailer it seemed a lot like Fallout 3 to me. It had the same greyish-slightly-green tint, the only human you saw looked a lot like a Fallout 3 human and the monsters looked slightly like super mutants and feral ghouls.

That's the fault of the marketing people, then. Unlike fallout 3, Rage is a shooter with slight rpg elements, a linear plot and a completely different aesthetic.

If you had to call it a rip-off, Borderlands would be closer despite the two games being still rather different.

Also, the escapist ate my post earlier, so excuse this if it's a repeat.

I wasn't saying it was a rip off, just that they looked similar

Well the game has finally come, and its time to see if its just a fallout rip off, or atleast a good one. I plan on posting once i get into the game, but for now, who still thinks its just a rip off. Also, on a side note, one of the towns is called wellsprings?! anyone who has played fallout NV will probably see it the same as i do, that that sounds like a rip off of goodspring (first town in F:NV)

What the fuck else are you going to call a starter town? Nondescript Starterton?
Springs are the sources of mighty rivers, so there's like a 33% chance any given RPG is going to start in a town with "spring" in the name.

Other than that, fun little drinking game, find a list of all the cities in your state (or country if you're one of those godless, un-American heathens xP) and take a shot for every one with some translation of "spring" in the title.

okay 1: its not just spring, its that the name is quite similiarly structured good=well.
2: im not complaining or being hostile (what iv played so far of RAGE is very impressive and fun) im only saying that it seems a little suspicous.

once again, i am NOT trying to point any fingers, this thread was only intended to let people discuss what they are thinking on this topic (in all honesty id say its far closer to borderlands than fallout). i LIKE rage and im not trying to be negative, just conversing.
