By jove, how long has it been since last time? Far too long, that's how! It's once again time for an honored Escapist tradition: The Random Superpower thread! And what better time to choose, with all the new arrivals from Gametrailers come upon the shores of The Escapist.
For newcomers, the concept is simple: you just click on this link [http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Random]. Whatever page you arrive on is now your superpower. No re-rolls, no "that's not what I wanted"s. Then you try to build a superhero identity around the power: how would you utilize it? Could you utilize it? In what kind of environment? How would you stop your arch nemeses? And so on.
To get the ball rolling, I got Fate Denial [http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Fate_Denial], which is a bit of a nebulous concept.
Alternately, this would make for an interesting villain scenario: if I'm the lone hero destined to save the world, I'll reject that fate and just settle for a life of carpentry, and let the fantasy world burn around me as their one true savior abandoned them.
Have fun, kids!

I'd see this power (as I understand it) only being useful in a setting where fate, as in a predetermined destiny set by above human circumistances or will, would be a thing. Let's say it is. I could see this being useful as a criminal investigator or something like that. They'd say "you go sniffing, there's only one way you'll end up". Well guess what, fucker, I don't! I get out of the cement block that's been attached to my leg. I don't end up shot amidst drug gangbangers. I keep coming back, no matter how many times they try to take me down.User can deny the effects of destiny/fate, including their own recorded fate. This allows them to shrug off the effects of their own predetermined existence, such if they were fated to die or disappear after accomplishing a certain mission or objective or possibly be separated and made to forget a loved one, they would instead be able to ignore that and live longer then they should or remember someone they were supposed to have forgotten.
An example of how this power functions is based on the old saying "Fate dealt you a bad hand", this power would work by forcing fate to reshuffle the deck entirely allowing the user to delay and deny its effects.
Unlike immunity user is not completely immune to fate, they merely delay/deny its effects for a while.
