By jove, how long has it been since last time? Far too long, that's how! It's once again time for an honored Escapist tradition: The Random Superpower thread! And what better time to choose, with all the new arrivals from Gametrailers come upon the shores of The Escapist.

For newcomers, the concept is simple: you just click on this link [http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Random]. Whatever page you arrive on is now your superpower. No re-rolls, no "that's not what I wanted"s. Then you try to build a superhero identity around the power: how would you utilize it? Could you utilize it? In what kind of environment? How would you stop your arch nemeses? And so on.

To get the ball rolling, I got Fate Denial [http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Fate_Denial], which is a bit of a nebulous concept.

User can deny the effects of destiny/fate, including their own recorded fate. This allows them to shrug off the effects of their own predetermined existence, such if they were fated to die or disappear after accomplishing a certain mission or objective or possibly be separated and made to forget a loved one, they would instead be able to ignore that and live longer then they should or remember someone they were supposed to have forgotten.

An example of how this power functions is based on the old saying "Fate dealt you a bad hand", this power would work by forcing fate to reshuffle the deck entirely allowing the user to delay and deny its effects.

Unlike immunity user is not completely immune to fate, they merely delay/deny its effects for a while.
I'd see this power (as I understand it) only being useful in a setting where fate, as in a predetermined destiny set by above human circumistances or will, would be a thing. Let's say it is. I could see this being useful as a criminal investigator or something like that. They'd say "you go sniffing, there's only one way you'll end up". Well guess what, fucker, I don't! I get out of the cement block that's been attached to my leg. I don't end up shot amidst drug gangbangers. I keep coming back, no matter how many times they try to take me down.

Alternately, this would make for an interesting villain scenario: if I'm the lone hero destined to save the world, I'll reject that fate and just settle for a life of carpentry, and let the fantasy world burn around me as their one true savior abandoned them.

Have fun, kids!

Well, let's see here... I got...

Path Creation [http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Path_Creation]

User can create pathways, including trails, roads, streets, highways, sidewalks, passages, rails, ways, etc., of varying permanence from various substances/forces.
So... I'm Gromit.

All hail the trail blazer.

In all seriousness, I guess it's not a terrible power. I could be 'Train Master,' a super villain who can create train tracks where ever I want to go, and ride my Doom Train, carrying tens of tons of weaponry with it.

Sooo....

Matter Melding [http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Matter_Melding]

User can cause separate and distinct items to combine into one new item. Some can fuse multiple different elements to make a new one. Ability can extend to morphing and reshaping existing matter on physical contact.
I'm basically a fancy bartender?

I'm totally okay with that. :D

Well I did a role and I got: Absolute Immortality [http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Absolute_Immortality]

The user possesses absolute immortality, is unable to die, age, get sick, or be permanently wounded, is absolutely self-sustained, and as the user's mind and soul are as immortal as their biological bodies, they are immune to mental/spiritual damage. Any injuries the user suffers immediately heal, even if the user's body is disintegrated or blown up or completely deleted, even if the user is completely destroyed to the sub-atomic level, they will still return to life. Alternatively, some users are absolutely immune to all harm, nor can they die of any natural causes.

The user's existence and soul become completely independent of even the concept of reality, making them not bound to the subjects of life, death and manipulations. Also, the power cannot be removed, rendered truly perfect and absolute.
That's pretty interesting, that's basically putting me on the level of Deadpool, Death, and Creation Deities.

I guess I'd kinda pull a Deadpool with this and pass the time being an unstoppable mercenary. I'd probably go all out and conquer the world bit by bit and reshape to fit my fancies eventually too, being a benevolent but strict eternal dictator.

Telekinetic Teleportation

Users are able to teleport matter/objects via telekinesis, either by telekinetically altering atoms/molecules of matter or creating folds in the fabric of space.
You know, I'm pretty sure I could be an actual hero with a power like this, but I'd probably just use this to move things closer to me.

Keys on the shelf 10 steps away? Telekinetic Teleportation go!

Your superpower is... being depowered?

How does that work? Are you just as you always were, or are you even more vulnerable then a regular person now?

You got screwed.

I got.....Life-Force Detection

...actually, looking more at this stuff, I could make for a pretty decent PI who goes up against major criminals, though they'd have to be muggles. the page mentions sensing good and evil as an application so that would be pretty good for a PI, power level sensing could help me know if I will need to avoid physical confrontations that I might not win, and the sensory detection and tracking should be able to help me find people whether they are suspects, possible informants/witnesses, and missing persons. I could also learn some martial arts, and use this to help me remove any blind spots while fighting.

I guess far as arch-enemy's go, it could be a mafia boss who always just manages to slip out of my reach even as I stop his plans and take down major members of his group.

When you think about it, that power could make for a pretty fucking metal villain. Imagine pulling up to a bank not in a car, but your Massive Doom Train of Death, pulling off a spectacular robbery, and laughing maniacally as you leave police cars eating your dust as you speed off on your tracks that only appear in front of you and disappear immediately behind you. And think about the ways you could deploy your minions in your plan to take over the world. Need to move a strike force across a desert? No problem, just conjure a bunch of train tracks! Need to set up an entire new villain base? Well, roads already there!

I always found this power pretty frightening (unless you can will yourself to die), since if the immortality is eternal you'll live out the earth and just stay in space in sort of limbo until )or even past) the universe ends.
Potentially, but I could spend an eternity acquiring other super powers and inserting myself into alternate universes, potentially even creating universes, multi-verses, and so on eventually. It could also be that I could watch our universe end and already be present for what replaces it. I mean literally it's a power that comes with infinite possibilities.

Soul Projection.

The user can project souls to varying degrees, such as storing a portion of one's own soul in an object or containing the souls of the dead and, in some cases, may even be able to draw souls in from the afterlife and project them into other bodies. They can affect spiritual/immaterial beings to varying decrees.

Some users are able to manifest their soul in physical or near-physical form, allowing it to affect/attack non-spiritual beings/objects.

Yyyeaaa....I would totally not be a superhero with that power. I'd have too much fun scaring people and peeking. xD How would I defeat my nemesis? I'd take over his body and make him walk off a cliff. That would surely work. :p Unless his power involved flight or a strong enough body to survive the fall. Then I'd take over his body and completely destroy his public image. (as my nemesis would likely be a hero.)

I got Time compression.

The user can compress the flow of temporal energy, stacking the currents into multiple layers, creating a pocket dimension of extremely high density of time. Inside this subspace dimension of increased density of time flows differently than that of the outside dimension, either by a much faster rate dependent on the proportional density, or so dense that it stops entirely.

They can also apply the condensed time energy for practical usages, such as constructs or blasts. The compressed time can also reach to such a point that it becomes singularities, forming quasi black holes.

Time to mess people up.

Either way I can make an interesting prison.

let's see here...

http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Summoning.

The user can transport person, creature, or object of choice by means of Teleportation, Dimensional Travel, Portal Creation or some other way. This may also result from a previous summoning contract, which creates a connection between the summon and summoner.

High level users may not be bound by restrictions such as a contract, and can summon anything they want, including powerful beings or "familiar spirits" and often require strong mystic connections to where these entities reside. Users can call upon fairies, angels, demons, or animal spirits, just to name a few.

The summoning can backfire, however, leading to any number of misfortunes, such as the summoned person, creature, or item causing harm to the summoner.
not nearly as good as last time but I'll take it. Now then with my dark power I summon GODZILLA
