I really need to get the first Mass Effect. And what exactly is this meat puppet thing the mooks from Borderlands shout about?
If we subtract all senses, can we really call him alive?Aby_Z said:Random thought: A worse fate than death would be to be purged of all of your senses, but kept alive for a significant amount of time.
Yay random, morbid thoughts...
yes if purgatory existsAkalistos said:If we subtract all senses, can we really call him alive?Aby_Z said:Random thought: A worse fate than death would be to be purged of all of your senses, but kept alive for a significant amount of time.

Well, you're techinically alive as far as the real world is concerned; it's like when you're in a coma. The only difference is that you're very much alive and awake, but you can't see, you can't hear, you can't speak, you can't smell, and you can't feel.Akalistos said:If we subtract all senses, can we really call him alive?Aby_Z said:Random thought: A worse fate than death would be to be purged of all of your senses, but kept alive for a significant amount of time.

That would be hilarious. I would feel bad afterwards if I knew about his predicament.Aby_Z said:Well, you're techinically alive as far as the real world is concerned; it's like when you're in a coma. I imagine a large, black, empty space with a dark figure resembling a person in the middle. You try to move, and sure you move, but you can't feel you moving. You can't see you moving. You can't hear you moving.
You can still do things and interact with the real world, but you won't ever know it. There's nothing around and no way to know of it to you, while to everyone else you're just fumbling about, running into walls or tripping over couches.
Purgatory is a layer of hell. I don't know when it change to reflect what it is today, but no matter. I mean in a philosophical sense. Can someone think in that state and if memory fade (Like everyone) wouldn't he stop thinking eventually.ayuri said:yes if purgatory existsAkalistos said:If we subtract all senses, can we really call him alive?Aby_Z said:Random thought: A worse fate than death would be to be purged of all of your senses, but kept alive for a significant amount of time.

Hilarious to watch, sure, but to be in that situation yourself, I'm sure one would wish death upon themselves rather than live.Uber Evil said:That would be hilarious. Speech isn't a sense >_>...And if someone was only suddenly stripped of their senses, it's not like they were deaf all their life and wouldn't know speech, they'd still be able to talk, they just might yell a lot.Aby_Z said:Well, you're techinically alive as far as the real world is concerned; it's like when you're in a coma. Yeah. Makes me think of Johnny Get Your Gun, the inspiration for Matallica's "One".Aby_Z said:Hilarious to watch, sure, but to be in that situation yourself, I'm sure one would wish death upon themselves rather than live.Uber Evil said:That would be hilarious.
