[rant]I heard it first years ago, when 4D movies came out, and I was like? HUH? surely that can't catch on, it was Faddish for a bit, and died out.. but then 5D, 6D and 7D cinema's started popping up and I'm hell bent on stamping this out.

Does anyone on here Agree? the 4th Dimension is time, unless you count back to the future, movies don't have the ability to be 'seen' in the 4th dimension, and everything is experienced in the 4th dimension so promoting a 4th D in a movie is like saying

"come to our cinema it has SEATS and you can BREATH AIR!!"

But 5D+ is just getting ridiculous.. so your saying your movie can now cross into dimensions other than this one and get me to experience life from the point of view of a spirit? a ghost? a god? What the F*

Can we get together collectively and boycott them, ***** at them openly, tell their managers off, scream at the world to BAN this abomination of abuse? I got a petition to close the local 'icecreamery' because of its 'abuse of education and language to children' until they changed their name, lets get it underway against this skullf**k of a concept.

What does 5D actually mean. My only knowledge of dimensions, physics wise, is limited to space (3D), time (4th).

Mathematics wise dimensions are just the unknowns of the equation, and so that has no application here.

Umm, last I checked we still haven't even been able to bend or break the fourth "D", so what the hell is a fifth "D"?

More than likely its just a incredibly poor thought ruse to sell to unsuspecting ignorant customers.

You are watching a movie inside the TARDIS?

Ok, yeah, having whiny people falling in love with the Doctor when they could be dealing with aliens is annoying, but otherwise I don't see the problem.

In general, additional D's are things like smells, animatronic characters appearing outside the screen, little prodders built into the seats, being splashed with water... This kind of thing.

Yes, physics-wise it doesn't hold, but when was the last time entertainment industry let logic and facts get in the way?

In cinemas 4D means that your seats move with the video (It sucks. realy I've been to a 4D cinema and we watched some futuristic skateboard video. It was terrrrrrible) and 5D means you can smell some farts. Can't wait to see CSI in 5D. The smell from the corpses would be groundbraking.

This, c'mon.
OP, if you want, you can start petitioning or whatever based on the fact that it's false advertising that implies that watching a movie in a '5D' theater will manipulate spacetime in ways yet unseen by human eyes. Me, I couldn't care less.

Well with productions like Transformers or SuckerPunch I don't think we will ever see a "logical" entertainment industry. Besides if I wanted to become immersed in a good story I would go play a flipping video game, not get "splashed" by janitorial saliva.

I don't mean to drop an incredibly poor pun but, I think Kind DeeDeeDee will be filing one hell of a lawsuit very soon.

@yeb

meh, a rant is a rant, does it have to be 100% logical or right? Nope..

p.s. in Australia you can report companies from abusing young minds with almost anything and government types will seriously look into it.

I WISH there was a 'false advertising' system in place, so many companies would go down.

Saying 4D or 5D is just wrong. It would be more like 3/4S for senses, than dimensions. If a movie was 5D, it would have the ability to move between two points in time. They don't. There is a really good flash animation that you can look up about the 11 dimensions. Quite informative, and nothing to do with movies

Yea, gotta agree. D or Double Dee can't be beate- oh, dimensions.

I've never understood how the 4th D is "time", and i'd rather never know. I just hope cinemas stop fucking around with 3D and go back to 2D.
