Excalibur 2555AD and Area 51. Both original PS1 copies. Area 51 in particular is incredibly rare.

The rarest game I have is probably Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth. I know it's not exactly that rare, but I cleaned house about 5 years ago and sold all my ps1 and ps2 games...

Biggest mistake ever.

According to a list I read in a magazine a few years back, Pikmin 2 is one of the 10 rarest Gamecube games due to it's release near the end of the systems life span & I have a copy of it in great condition.

I also owned a copy of Golden Nugget 64 witch the same magazine stated was one of the 10 rarest Nintendo 64 games but I sold it.

Tips & Tricks was the name of the magazine I think. It had a column called Collectors Closet in it that told me about this.

I got a copy of Legend of Zelda: Master Quest. I never saw it except in some used game bins in a gamestop.

I'm not sure how you're defining "rare", so ill let you judge:

The Incredible Hulk: The Pantheon Saga
John Romero's Daikatana
The Ultimate Doom
Doom 2
Heretic II
Shadow Warrior
Carmageddon II - Carpocalypse Now

(All PC Games)

I have an original copy of Hexen, and another copy of the first Time Crisis, complete with crappy Namco light gun. That game's voice acting was fantastic, too.

"Dance to the death!"

Maybe not that rare, but I prize my copy of Dragon's Lair (box, manuals disks in really good condition) on Amiga more then anything other game!

Hmm, let me see...I used to really like JRPG's...

Master System & Megadrive/Genesis

- Phantasy Star 1,2,3 & 4
- Landstalker
- Sining in the Darkness
- Shining Force 2
- Bunch of sega series (Shinobi, streets of rage etc., not exactly rare though)

SNES

- FF 4, 6, Crono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Starfox/wing, Vortex, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma, Breath of Fire 2, Cybernator, Shadowrun + all Nintendo's own titles

Saturn

My pride & joy, a treasure trove of great & rare games

- Panzer Dragoon 1,2 & Saga.
- Guardian Heroes
- Dragon Force 1 & 2
- Shining the Holy Ark
- Shining Force 3 Ep.1,2,3
- Albert's Oddysse & Magic Knight Rayearth
- Deep Fear
- Nights Into Dreams

Playstation One

- Castlvania SOTN Collector's Edition

Square stuff I don't really consider rare

N 64

Zelda & Mario's.

Uh, that's about it, Think PS2 is too new to be considered rare. I started collecting early & didn't sell off much...xcept games I really didn't like which included Mario Kart (yes, sounds weird, I know)

The rarest SNES games I have are Chrono Trigger and FF3.

Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram for Dreamcast

Gitaroo Man on PS2.
OMEGA BOOST IS FUCKING AWESOME WELL DONE SIR!

Phew, sorry about that, I thought I was the only one. Which region do you have?

I'd say the rarest I have are Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 2 and 3, and Link's Awakening, and Demon's Crest if only for the fact that most people just brought it back to the store. I also have Silent Hill 1 and 2, not sure how rare they are at this point. But at least I can be comfortable that if everything falls apart I can still sell Chrono Trigger for at least $40, which is pretty impressive for an SNES game at this point.
However it's easy to have obscure games, rare games are hard to find. Once videogames started becoming more mainstream companies generally made quite a few more copies, back in the earlier days of the NES or SNES they didn't have the finances to make millions of copies of games, especially because they had to make an entire cart complete with the ROM. I suppose the fact that SNES games were at $70 or more helped mitigate the cost, but switching to CD's and more powerful consoles helped for a bit, until they realized they could go back to charging $60 for a disc shaped piece of plastic.

Super Metroid: It wasn't really a rare game at the time, but finding a copy these days can be a bit of a chore since nobody sells it.

Ranma 1/2 Hard Battle: In a rare fit of young Anime fanboy fury I bought this game on day one. And it's terrible. I don't think it got a particularly wide release and the idea that someone might pay to play it is almost unthinkable to me.

Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt/World Class Track Meet: In the before times, in the long long ago. Well before DDR and Wiimotes. Nintendo thought it could get away with motion controls by adding a stupid pressure sensitive exercise mat and a terrible olympics game with which you could use it. They included it with their NES along with the standard SMB/Duck Hunt.

Secret of Evermore: Trivia time. Did you know there was a North American development team for Squaresoft? Did you know they only released one game? No? Well there's a good reason for that. Because Secret of Evermore was boring, repetitive and the plot sucked.

Y'know it seems that with the exception of Super Metroid all of my "rare" games are only considered such because I was the only one stupid enough to buy them

Following this chain of logic I also have copies of Who Framed Roger Rabbit and The Legend of Kage.

I also have an old pong machine around here somewhere. But that wasn't really rare it's just that I'm the only one holding on to theirs.
