Unfortunatly Ubisoft, with its undying hate for PC players didnt release it on my beloved platform.
I think that this game would have made more profits it would of been available on steam or even available on PC.
But Ubisoft deosn't want too put it on PC because we are all moral less pirates YARR.

Well, we seem to be at least on the same page of the book when it comes to this.

Rayman may do enough different and people like you may appreciate it for what it is but sadly enough most people look at it my way. And it is sad that Ubisoft ... "miscalculated" the pricepoint. Because I am sure: if the game would've been sold for less money it would not only have sold better, the overall gain would've been significatly larger (just look at Steam and what sales do for games).
'tis what they did with Beyond Good & Evil and it didn't sell any copies anyway despite being an amazing and fun game (and one of my all-time favourites) :/

Honestly, all this is just a giant conspiracy to prevent Ancel from making BG&E2
Fuck you, Ubisoft >:C
People did finally buy BG&E online so give me my goddamn sequel (or redo B&E in a way that it doesn't end with that fucking cliffhanger >:C)

in any case: I sort of agree with people saying that Rayman doesn't deserve full price. Not because 2D gaming is inheritantly less worth than 3D (I find it really sad that people believe that). However, it IS easier and cheaper to develop and make, even if it is as awesome and polished as Rayman Orgins, so I can understand and sort of support the argument that it can't justify the 60$ price tag.

I agree with everything OP is saying and that's just for playing the demo a few times. I'm gonna go get it tomorrow and can't wait to play it.

The problem is all down to timing. Ubisoft decided to release Origins during quite possibly the busiest, most hectic release schedule the industry has seen this whole decade. When you've got juggernauts like Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim all fighting each other for attention, and other games like Ubisoft's own Assassin's Creed fighting out on the sidelines, Rayman was always doomed to be lost in the scrum.

It's a shame, and I feel really sorry for Michel Ancel and his team. They've consistently released critically acclaimed games, and been consistently shat on by their publisher and ignored by gamers. I can only hope the game picked up some more sales in the Christmas rush.
This is probably the best explanation as that I've seen so far. I only have a Wii for my home console, so I missed out on quite a few AAA titles in November (I've gotten used to that by now), but I still missed out on Rayman Origins in favor of Skyward Sword and pre-ordering Xenoblade Chronicles.

I do hear there's a 3DS version coming out soon, though, so I'll definitely get that one ASAP.
