I don't think anyone takes Yahtzee that seriously. Like, there not reviews, just funny. Funnier than this was. If you took his word for everything you would be playing CoD4 and nothing.
On a De-Rez thread, the one about Yahtzee.

I stand by the statement, but not the grammar. I'm a recovered idiot. I do believe I had to fend off someone over the statement, but I held my ground and stayed around.

It wasn't even that long ago and already I'm nostalgiaing a bit

-----------------------------------------------------

I absolutely love Majora's Mask; it was what Ocarina of Time should have been. It was brilliant for taking the great gameplay of OOT, improving the engine in just the right places, and then crafting an involved story and experience. Yes, it is like few other Zelda games and the time limit is a bit constricting, but, it is an absolute masterpiece. It's one of the few games where I actually am compelled to care for most of the characters not to mention it's one of the few Zelda games with a story beyond rescue the princess for the umpteenth time. Add to the fact that all of these advances are built with the solid foundation of an excellent game like OOT, so, I was blown away -- to say the least. I am already used to that fact that I am most certainly in the minority about this, however, unless someone starts gushing about the CD-I games, I am perfectly fine with that (since, I mean, who would want to be lumped into a minority near a size to them?).

Edit: I should have read the rest of the thread, I may be in the minority but I'm in good company here

WHAT. How could you!? :(

Haruhi is god. :)

Uhm, I wasn't very partial to the first episode of Yu-Yu-Hakusho but as I got more into it, I really started to appreciate it more.
How could I? Simple...It's very popular and I've never seen it. So my friend loaned me the dvd and told me to watch it in Japanese. It was awful. The english dub was very good and much better to endure than the japanese dub but the show was awful. And the reason I'm starting hate anime because of it.
Seeing how you watched the DVD, I assume you watched the episodes in the DVD order ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Melancholy_of_Haruhi_Suzumiya_episodes ), and I can't help but think this is part of the reason why you did not like the series. I really enjoyed the series, but I watched the episodes in the non-linear broadcast order.
Of course there is the possibility that you just don't like that kind of anime.

This gives me an interesting idea, though. I think I will go create a poll to see if the order in which you watch the episodes is relevant to whether you like the series or not.

On topic: I think Lucky star would be a bad 'first' anime, as it seems you have to already be a part of the anime crowd to get it.
Someone quoted me on that before. Saw it again...and still hate it.

Am I the only one that thinks this is the absolute stupidest thing possible?
No, I can't see the point either. Especially using it on a ten foot tall metal 'dog'. Seems like they're exploring something completely irrelevant to the episode.

It seems odd they'd try and involve a back story to Alyx about an old boyfried when

her father has just died

I'm not saying don't do it ever, just not now, in a game that's been going nowhere for 2 years and still hasn't even had it's story finalised.

It's not insensitivity to the deaf, but I hardly think they're going to feel so much more involved for something that would almost inevitably be 2 minutes tops out of an 8 hour game. Seems much more like a 'Token Black' idea than anything innovative.
That's mine about the rumour that Valve were looking at sign language for Episode 3.

I personally think that the reason that it's so popular is because it really set the bar for first person shooters, and it became the standard. A short story mode, make your own map, a good chunk of maps top play on, a wide veriety of settings and modes, as well as costumizable armor. Roughly, because it gives you more freedom to do what you want them most FPSs.
it was in a forum asking why halo is so popular.

On BioShock, where I get the awesome tonic that sends out a shockwave every time I get hit with a melee attack. "Right," I think, "let's see those Thuggish Splicers get me now :A."
Then, I get hit by a Splicer whilst trying to sneak past a Big Daddy, shockwave hits the cyborg and counts as an attack, and I get ripped to shreds, so I try and find a Gene bank, but the only one that I can currently reach is forwards, with several, AI coordinated Big Daddy/Splicer ambushes between me and it...
It was one step away from just hanging a "F**k you!" sign on the inside of the Vita-Chamber doors... :|

I'm having trouble thinking of a Western turn based RPG. Anyone care to help?

As far as I am aware turn based RPGs are JRPGs.

I would say Zelda is an adventure game.
