Does it really matter what multiplayer skin you use anyway? You never see it anyway.

Its just asking for people to harass you on xbox live if you ask me.
for the same reason I worked to get my Recon... because it amuses me.
Wee boys touching themselves because you're an actual girl playing a game amuses you? Meh, I'm not here to judge. If you think they're not doing that then you underestimate young boys.
I assume it's like that, I mean I've only played XBL with strangers a few times, once a kid started singing songs at me, all the other times I got trash talked by 12 year olds. You're 12. Fuck off.
I digress, it just seems like a pointless way to draw attention to yourself. Having said that, I would probably pick the female body for jokes. Not that I play Halo.
UGH.. i meant having the ARMOR amuses me you freak. (and i mean that in the nicest possible way lol)
I know, I was being facetious. I certainly wouldn't enjoy that. It's not like you could even scam them for items like in MMOs, they'd just be saying irritating stuff.

I'm not quite sure who you've been playing with, but I've never heard of someone 'touching themselves' because they are in the same game as a girl. I've heard of whiney kids and losers making rascist/sexist remarks, but never someone 'touching themselves'. Besides, there is always the 'mute' button that comes in handy.

Well....maybe, but would it matter? From what i read in the books, All spartans are made for Fighting, and in the Books[sub]Don't hold me to this i haven't read any of their books lately[/sub] They should be of the Same Physical Stature so there would be no point right?
Yeah, in the books it said that you really couldn't tell a spartans gender by their armor, which was unisex. I mean, with real soldiers you can't tell a guy from a girl when they are all geared up in heavy combat equipment, why would it be diff with high tech super soldiers in heavy metal armor?

On the other hand I can see the gamer want for that feature, so maybe, just maybe they will.

Heck, they might even let you lower the guns in Halo Reach online too!

I have PLENTY of friends who play halo 3 and who're gonna play reach and all of em are livid that they cant have a feminine model for their avi. i for one believe that everyone should get to be what they want. also, for anyone who is complaining on the issue with NOBLE squad's Kat, she has a feminine look about her because shes from the SPARTAN-III program, with the rest of the squad (save Jeorge who happens to be a S-2). the difference between the two are S-2's are larger, more muscular, and stout. Halo 3 boasts SPARTAN-II multiplayer characters, therefore, the models are the same, the armors are the same. S-3's are a cheaper and more effective way for ONI to give the UNSC SPARTANS, are given injections of similar enhancements which give them the endurance, health and speed of an S-2 while not having to go through the arduous proccess of injection, mutation, and rehabilitation. S-2's take (dont quote me, been a while since i read the books) aprox. 3 hours for injection 8 hours for mutation, and 3 weeks for them to get used to the new body. not to mention the near decade it took to train them. the cost of armor between the types for outfitting was reduced greatly for S-3's had SPI, or semi-powered infiltration armor, that being lighter, less shielded, and more stealth-based in comparison to the tank-worn MJOLNIR.

information taken from halopedia, which i thank greatly for my tutelage in halo mythology for without the intel, i would have never been able to successfully forge a halo based paper/pen rpg, which i use the d20 modern system and as a basis

Girlish death rattle, that sounds so wrong.
Sorry to say, but I myself have no information on this... I suppose you may have to wait until the game's out.

There will be a noticeable difference in shape between a male spartan and a female one. I'll edit with some proof if I can.

The one in pink armor is probably a girl. The one with the psychotic AI is probably a guy.

And a warthog is a chupacabra.

I hope they don't. All the idiots on XBLA will make really busty Spartans...

I just hope it's noticeable and not too customizable.

...but how do you know who's male or female? They're in massive suits of armour, are they not? Nicole, for example.
i get that

right.. i know that in the books there were remarks that one couldn't tell the women from the men.. but i thought it would be amusing to give the ladies somewhat of an hourglass figure and maybe make them a slight bit smaller.. like Kat.
With the whole Male/Female thing in the story it is true that with the Spartan Is & IIs there was no but Spartan IIIs are designed differantly to previous models so there is a noticable differance between male and female.

OT: I see no problem with them allowing people to change gender, Games would do well to let people choose gender IMO.

I think that odds are, there won't be a female body shape, just a female voice much like in Halo 3.

However I wonder if that'll apply to just Spartans or if Elites get it too.

then you get tactical advantages, im assuming the girl shape would be thinner or smaller in some way, in which everyone would just pick female then as they are a smaller target with no differences to speed or shot recoil

Well, the Spartans are actually different sizes from one another (this is relative, even the shortest one is fucking huge). That being said, they are all supposed to look almost exactly alike. With the exception of Dr. Halsey, no one can tell the Spartans apart without their IFF tags, including telling the men from the women.

This is all completely changed in Reach though. All of the Spartans have completely unique looks and, as the OP stated, the female Spartan had distinctly feminine characteristics. So it could make sense to have female character models for MP.
Bear in mind that nearly every Spartan we have seen in Halo: Reach (barring one) is a product of Col. Ackerson's S-III project, not Dr. Halsey's Spartan-IIs. Since they're a different Spartan project, they would likely have a different type of armor. It appears Spartan-IIIs have more personalized armor, while the Spartan-IIs have a uniform appearance.

Well, I made that post almost 4 months ago and at the time I didn't know or had forgotten they where Spartan III's.

That being said, there was no evidence in Ghost's of Onyx that the S-III's where any less uniform than the S-II's aside from the fact that the selection process was less strict.

Does it matter? Its just a character model.

While the new items in Reach actually do something for your character, I doubt Gender would have a big effect.

And to my knowledge, no, until they announce it, we'll probably be left with the whole female death cry.

They've stated that they both have the same hitbox.

so is there any difference besides the voice when they die then?
