I like it, it's the example of how to review things, no pulled punches, every weak spot hit, the Cassius clay of game reviews.
It's mostly the law of diminishing returns rather than the series "going downhill." When his style was fresh and new, the shock comedy and strange comparisons were funny because they were somewhat unexpected. It's the surprise of not being able to guess what word is going to follow the next that makes ZP funny, along with the simple but effective images.dudeman0001 said:I cant believe how many people are fixated on the idea that ZP is "going downhill" are there actually weirdos who didn't find this dialogue to be funny;
"Call of....JAUREZ!!! has 2 main characters, Thomas and Gerald, when you pick Thomas you move faster and shoot more accurately, when you pick Gerald you can pause, restart the game and PICK THOMAS, stupid!" Thats the kind of thing that makes him stand out from other reviewers.
Yeah, personally I don't have the feeling ZP is going downhill (yet). Sure it varies every week..but that's only natural. I am here at Escapist because of ZP in the first place..so it has to become really really bad (a streak of 3 full movies of irritation at the lack of humour/ style) for me to stop watching..and still I would probably be tempted to check it after a while just to see if he's made a comeback.dudeman0001 said:I cant believe how many people are fixated on the idea that ZP is "going downhill" are there actually weirdos who didn't find this dialogue to be funny;
