I tend to be very restless and feel like doing something when I'm upset. Problem is, most of the dilemmas are out of your power. I can't think straight and my mind is all over the place. So, when I get pissed, I'll hit the gym. Its very Zen. Follow up with a hot shower, then sleep.

Alternatively, you could "sing a sad song just to turn it around"?

I'm gonna guess quoting bender wont help, so we'll pass that.

What helps me (oddly) is Grunge music. Perhaps you should just sit down with your favorite drink, pop in your favorite CDs/play your favorite songs (for those of us too young or that have forgotten what CDs are) and sit back, relaxing to it while letting yourself go in the music.

Quoting Bender would actually help. Futurama is my favorite TV show, and I can recited basically full episodes depending on how much I like them =) Quote away my friend.

Call a friend, go out for a beer.

I usually find that talking to real people, instead of online people helps.

Well I was thinking about the one where he says compare your lives to me and kill yourselves, but that seemed counter productive.

Above meant to be taken as a joke.

Take a hot bath/shower
THIS.

A piping hot shower always manages to make me feel better.
Strangely enough, your avatar just made me laugh. Took me a minute to see what it was then I noticed and it made me laugh. Thank you for having a funny avatar, and thank you for the advice, I will definitely be doing this before I go to bed.

That helped, knowing the exact episode it was from and the context also helped, although it is a little bit sad... Another problem I will confront on a different day.

Take a hot shower to relax those muscles, set your room to a mildly-room high temperature and wear some sweats (or easy, big, clothes in cotton or something like that). Dim the lights (or set a lamp from the distance) put on some music at low levels, something that doesn't make you excited or anything, just ambiance at really low levels.

Read a book, or put on a show you might enjoy, but once again, nothing that will excite your brain too much. Also, I suggest making taking a couple of pill for the headache, something that causes a mild level of drowsiness.

Either two things will happen. You fall asleep, or your brain and muscles chill out for a couple of hours/minutes.
Man this sounds good.
That'll be my tomorrow xD

Dnang.... not helping.

Well, you could always take his other advice:

?Like most of life?s problems, this one can be solved with bending.?

That there's some words to live by.

Hey, your day mirrors mine! Fancy that. Dude, I don't even know. My best advice, play a shit tonne of video games, take a nap, and listen to whatever music makes you happy. That's what I've been doing and I guess it's marginally helping. Or look at funny videos on youtube or hang out with a friend, those are good too

Asking the internet is usually not the correct answer that's for sure
Well I'm not googling it, I'm asking the opinions of actual, factual human beings. If you have nothing constructive to say then do not contribute please.

No no no, you misunderstood. I meant that it's sad I know the episode, the season, and the context of that quote.

When I've been feeling my absolute worst and in a spiralling pit of despair I found that watching an episode of Firefly (or whatever your favourite show is). It really took my mind off things. It doesn't solve the problem, but what it does is stops your brain keep of rolling the problem around and around in your head and coming to wild ideas. It really helped me when I was bad.

I also take a soak in the tub while listening to podcasts to unwind.

well, one thing that usually helps me when i want to get something out of my head and off my mind is to start a journal type thingy. just write out what you're thinkng about, seeing it on paper just might get it out of your head. hope it helps, and i offer my condolences to you and your family in this trying time.

I'd recommend sleeping, maybe listen to some of your favourite songs, just stuff that normally puts you in a good mood.

Or have a wank, that helps with stress.
+1

Good one.
