I have one not to far from my house, where if you pronounce the name of the city wrong you can be fined and/or thrown in jail. I mention this because someone was arrested for this the other day.
Ah, Joliet.

Isn't that law unconstitutional, because technically you're abridging someone's right to say something in the way they'd like to.
No. TECHNICALLY freedom of speech does not cover pronunciation.
HAHAHA, Well shit, People with speech impediments are boned
don't you mean b-b-b-b-boned? And yes, yes they are. People of affected speech, live not in joliet! They will arrest you!

Yup, good old Joliet...and it probably is, but this is also Illinois...we're pretty fucked up if I do say so myself.

I'm sure there's a law in Ireland that says you can get fined for saying anything sacrilegious.
Yeah unfortunately the new anti blasphemy laws came into effect on Jan 1(fuck you Dermot Ahern).Anyone found guilty can be fined up to ?25,000.Problem is the wording is quite vague,

"It defines blasphemy as "publishing or uttering matter that is grossly abusive or insulting in relation to matters sacred by any religion, thereby intentionally causing outrage among a substantial number of adherents of that religion, with some defences permitted".

So in theory you could be prosecuted for something as simple as saying God doesn't exist as long as it offends enough people.

The most stupid thing about it is that in 2008 Ireland voted at the UN against an attempt by Islamic countries to have "defamation of religion" made a crime yet then turn around and introduce virtually the same thing here

There is. We have a Blasphemy Law. It's wonderful... Everyone else in Europe's abolished them, and we reinstate ours.

Apparently in Washington it is illegal to molest one's fishing gear. I don't want to know why that law was necessary...

In France its illegal to name your pig Napoleon.
In Australia its illegal to dress up like Batman.
In York you can shoot a Scotsman with a crossbow provided he is carrying a bow and arrow (meaning im never going back there).

I don't know any specifically for my area, but I heard once that there was a flawed law in Germany (probably been repealed or just not enforced since) that banned video games.

I'm not sure if it's still a law or not but 6 years ago when I was studying law in college my lecturer told us that it's legal to shoot a welshman with a crossbow providing he is standing within the boundaries of a particular castle, I think it's in Cornwall but I may be mistaken.
I have heard of that too, but I can't remember where either.
That would be Chester, it is legal to shoot a Welshman inside the city walls after midnight.

I can't remember the state, but in the US, it is illegal to jump out of an airplane.

My favourite law, on the other hand, would be from El Salvidor, regarding drunk driving. First offense is your last- death by firing squad.

Laws are usually made to improve the discipline among the members of the society. I found some laws in my area that are totally dumb are there is no useful reason behind those laws. Some of those laws are.

1. Dogs may not bark after 6pm.
2. No vehicle without a driver may exceed 60 miles per hour.
3. It is unlawful to walk backwards after sunset.
4. It is considered an offense to shower naked.

You can also find some more laws from here.

I'd not be suprised. I used to live in Cornwall and heard that it is illegal NOT to shoot a frenchman from the clock tower in Redruth if you see them in the highstreet on a sunday.
