Yeah unfortunately the new anti blasphemy laws came into effect on Jan 1(fuck you Dermot Ahern).Anyone found guilty can be fined up to ?25,000.Problem is the wording is quite vague,
"It defines blasphemy as "publishing or uttering matter that is grossly abusive or insulting in relation to matters sacred by any religion, thereby intentionally causing outrage among a substantial number of adherents of that religion, with some defences permitted".
So in theory you could be prosecuted for something as simple as saying God doesn't exist as long as it offends enough people.
The most stupid thing about it is that in 2008 Ireland voted at the UN against an attempt by Islamic countries to have "defamation of religion" made a crime yet then turn around and introduce virtually the same thing here
