Amarcord, by Federico Fellini

A blind accordionist, a midget nun, a cross-eyed mother, a perverted grandfather, a crazy uncle, a titanic-tittied MILF, a random motorcyclist, a town whore. What more could you ask for?

Avatar, not exactly a boundary breaking movie in terms of storyline, but the characters are likeable (if a little acratypical) and the universe it creates is second to none in terms of beauty. A movie with action, Sci-fi, discovery and love. It is a fantastic movie to sit down with a pizza and a friend or two.

However, if the blue people aren't your thing, you really can't go wrong with "Star Wars: A New Hope".

Look up a little movie called "Primer." It is about a couple scientists who invent "something" i cant say more without spoiling it.
This film will mind-rape you. Then you will watch it another four times till you understand. So the sooner the start, the better. Really. It's awesome.

The whole Vengeance trilogy is amazing, though Oldboy in particular, is especially good.

That is how I felt. I was watching the credits trying to piece together the entire thing. They did a very good job making the main character in that movie not even a person.

Shaun of the dead or Hot fuzz.
Pretty much the movies that i can watch any time.
Zombieland is ok too, but if you are in a more dramatic mood, then you should watch The Pianist.

apocalypse now (i cant even tell you how many times i've seen it but it gets better every time)
memento
blade runner
city of god
dr. strangelove (one of the greater satires of all time in my opinion. also fun to play the "find the sexual innuendo" game while watching. there's a LOT of them)
network (a fairly ominous and prophetic satire of network television giants)
taxi driver
goodfellas
fargo
o brother, where art thou?
no country for old men (i'm a bit of a coen brothers fan)
there will be blood
crash
traffic
any of the dollars trilogy (fistful of dollars, for a few dollars more, the good, the bad and the ugly)
the dark knight
the graduate
vertigo
the birds
strangers on a train (love the master of suspense)
platoon
blue velvet
mulholland drive
army of darkness
inglourious basterds
hurt locker

i could go on and on

Haha, weeeeellllll, that's sort of true. There's actually a website devoted to....hmmm, in order to avoid spoilers I'm just gonna say it's devoted to understanding the film by working out exactly....how the timeline works. I can't recall what it is anymore but there was a graphical representation so an image search will probably find it if you've the time and inclination.

I think I'm gonna spend tonight watching a movie with a pizza and a nice mug of cider, but uh-oh! What movie should I watch?

List here your favourite movie, movies you've seen recently and liked, movies you saw ages ago and liked or movies you've heard great things about! Make sure to tell us why you liked/others liked the movie. All genres are welcome.

On every thread like this I list the same films. Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Jersey Girl, Clerks 2, Zack and Miri Make a Porno (basically any film by Kevin Smith). His Evenings With are also pretty good.

Something or other.
That's already on my To-See list since it's by Chris Morris. Brass Eye already won me over.
Well what the fuck is it still doing on your to-see list when it should be on your saw-it-and-got-my-mind-blown list?! Go see it NAO!
Haha fair point, I've just not got much free time these days. I'll make sure to see it soon though.

This is England is really worth seeing.
So I've heard, it's about racism isn't it?
So what? It don't exactly say "racism is good" more like this "This is what will happen... and it's not good" so I don't think it's offending in any way. Or you can watch "Bronson" ot's also really great.

Death to Smoochy http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0266452/

Sorry, not sure how to post links. It's a really funny and slightly dirty comedy about a squeaky-clean Barney knockoff that everyone, even the Parade of Hope, wants to kill.

Black. Dynamite.
Definitely one of the more creative films to come out in the last year or so. Gotta love Michael Jai White
You're welcome
