Oh and good job on the bolded part there. Fuck so your big thing is because parents can't be there they aren't to blame? FUCK THAT AND YOUR BLATANT IGNORANCE. That is thier job when they spit out a kid. To raise them. And if the latch key kids are getting thier hands on M rated games well once again who's fault is that? The industry's who have done everything they can to ensure these kids don't get thier hands on the games? OR THE FUCKING PARENTS???
Congratulations on managing to leave your "roxxor" elist attitude in check for a moment and have a civilized couple lines about a topic alot of people take seriously. But you are still not reading my arguement. I AM blaming the parents. Quit putting words in my mouth. It is my arguement that regulating what your child plays is the act of a responsible parent. I am not letting parents off the hook. Sonuva *****, man, would you please take this time to go through and actually read my posts? Since you seem so determined to use a part of what I am saying and exaggerate it and another part of my arguement to tell me I am wrong. I haven't pointed at video games and said "this is the cause for all childrens problems today". This is a grey area, guy. It isn't a black and white situation. But one thing is for for sure, these games such as GTA do not offer any positive effects. They DO offer negative effects even if some people believe they are only short term.

You know what, whatever dude. You are determined not to pick up on what I am saying. Possibly even trolling. I seriously find it hard to believe anyone is that thick. If this is the best you can do in response to what I have posted and for some reason you feel that your viewpoint opposes mine, whatever. You haven't addressed any of my points. You are essentially agreeing with me and then stating I am wrong because you are caught up in a pissing contest online more than a conversation. Do us all a favor and don't argue on behalf of video games anymore. You make us all look bad.

EDIT:

It honestly kind of pisses me off how overprotective my parents are, and I'm against your view. I think if their parents let 'em play the games, then it's their decision. Actually, if and when I have kids, I'm going to let them do kind of whatever. Do your parents have a lot of restrictions on games, music, etc?
Hell Yes this right here!!!!^^^

Who the hell are any of you to try and tell someone else how they should raise thier kids? Fuck sakes you get your panties in a bunch whenever someone in government dares threaten YOUR FREEDOMS and you think any of you have the right to try and take away someone elses??? BUNCH OF FUCKIN HYPOCRITES!!!!!!
No wonder you are probably under 17 and on some crusade. I wanna smack myself now for not checking into it sooner. It smelled fishy from the start. You ain't mature enough for mature content yet, little guy. The last thing we need is to encourage this type of poor social skills. You should have the the basic capability to debate by the age of 12. You lack this. You need to be working on that more than your trigger reflexes in imaginary settings.
Got news for ya bud I happen to be a parent myself. That is why I am pissed about this. They want to put on thier little warnings and whatnot that is great. But to start pointing fingers at anyone or anything other than the parents is irresponsible and an easy cop out. You know why? Because blaming anything other than the parents is why we won't have M rated games anymore. There is no grey area. It is very black and white. If you don't want your kid to play GTA or Manhunt hey good on you. If you don't want your kids to play to much games or "those" types of games do your job and be a responsible parent. It isn't a console's fault. Or a games fault. Wanna know how my parents kept me from watching TV or anything like that when they weren't home. They cut the cord to the tv and locked the plug away. When they got home they would put the cord back together and a bit of electrical tape and TV is on. Sounds extreme but it worked. We are not in agreement. You seem to think that well it is a part. But it is only a part when the parents aren't doing thier jobs so to me it doesn't matter of all the different parts (except the mental disability part which no amount of parenting can help) all comes back to THE PROBLEM...parenting.

When my daughter is old enough and mature enough I will let her play whatever I feel she can handle. END OF STORY. Will she be monitored? YES!! Will she be moderated? YES. Will She be online? Probably. Will she have a headset and be talking to people? NO. Will I care what the ESRB rating says? NOPE. Will I be playing it before her? YEP

As for GTA being so harmful to children I believe you missed the "I let my 5 yr old play GTA" article floating around. You know the one where the 5 yr old got to play GTA and wanna know what he did? Played fireman, ambulance driver, policeman and didn't kill hookers or mow down innocent civilians (well there was that one unfortunate accident). Why that sounds like a very positive experience. Oops I took away another scapegoat on you. I'm sorry. So once you are done ranting and raving about my debating skills maybe you might find something productive you can add to it. I am not expecting intelligent, just productive.

Meh. Don't you remember when you were nine? Watching graphically violent movies, playing graphically violent games, and dreaming of blood? Wait, was that just me?

But seriously, he's nine, it's no big deal. I learned multiple swear words in German from my mom when I was 8, so who cares.

This is exactly the problem with parents. Not the video games or the rating system, but the parents. Because the games are clearly labelled as M for MATURE, meaning ADULTISH people. So, really, the only people to blame are the parents.
I never understood this. I mean, you could MAYBE let a young kid play a T for Teen game, depending on the content. But M for Mature? What the hell?
That's definitly off.

i think that as long as the kids don't imitate what they see, then I don't care what they see or play, I played Halo, Unreal Tournament, Starcraft, and Grand Theft Auto since I was... mmm... 8? 9? about that kid's age anyways, and I haven't become some lunatic :p

Sure I would let my kids play games, but a 9 year old playing something like GTA, where you can go out and kill hookers?

I'm all for not restricting games etc. but honestly that game wasn't designed for a 9 year old and shouldn't be played by a 9 year old.

First of all.Its not about age its about maturity and the child's common sense. Did the call of duty modernwarfare 2, grand theft auto vice city, call of duty modern warfare, gears of war 2 and saints row 2 playing kid kill everyone at the pool? or even show any aggression before you asked him about the games he played? probably not. and second of all i'm a kid who plays these games and i rarely have any violent or immature thoughts.

I don't object to kids playing games like that, but I will say that it really fucking annoys me when there are nine year olds on Xbox Live and when kids in elementary school are going on about how they "fucking shot that guys fucking face off!" (actual quote). Of course it also irritates me when all my friends go on about how they "Longshoted this dude with the FAL on highrise and it so sweet" so who am I to talk really?

I have an eleven year old sister who plays Gears 2 with me sometimes. But that's as bad as it gets for her. We haven't let her see Dante's Inferno or GTA 4

FBI studies have shown games have NO LASTING EFFECT.
Fine, I'm just saying that "mind warping" does in fact happen.

It's done wonders for my sister, actually.

About that last part, what exactly do you mean?
As in, neuroplastic treatment has reduced my sister's massive anxiety problems into slightly annoying ones.
