Interestingly enough, one of my gay friends is more likely to use the word ****** than anyone I know.
I use ******. I'm a liberal. I have nothing but respect for gay people. I just don't use it that way. I also, generally, only use it with my friends because I know a lot of people do think I mean it that way.

It kind of makes sense as an insult if you actually think about it. Granted, most of the time the context it's used in doesn't FIT, but I could see how it would work as an insult if it's directed to a strait person.
When you think about it, the term basically states "you get done in the ass by a man" which to a strait person probably packs more punch than most other insults, possibly with the exception of "mother fucker" but that's been done to death and nullified so much it's not taken literally anymore. Think of it this way, comparing it to things like "moron," "asshole," ect. as a heterosexual would you rather be below average level of intelligence/ have people think that you are unlikable, or be done in the ass by a man?
If you think about it generally insults DON'T make sense. For example, what's socially acknowledged as one of the worst things to call a black man is "******." but when you consider the actual definition of the word it really means nothing. It's just "a racial slur for a black person" which holds no water other than "society says it's bad." Same thing with things like "asshole, douchebag, ect." which have been completely bastardized from their original meanings and now basically just say the person is unlikable in your opinion. Things that call intelligence into question make a bit more sense, but even that's subjected to opinion, and generally aren't very insulting. Whereas ****** is a straightforward assertion that the other person fucks dudes.

Im pretty sure fag doesnt just mean a derogatory term for homosexual people anymore. I've said "that's gay.." so many times but not once do i ever mean it to offend homosexuals in any way. like how ****** turned into nigga. I'm not insulted when people(wangsters and wannabe's) use the term and im black....according to south park, fag means someone who annoys people(often associated with bikers)
People use ****** because when their brains get damaged by not leaving the house and getting fresh air they lack the creativity to use other insults!

****** is derived from a 16th century term '******-Gatherer' which was a term used to describe the old ugly women whom where left widowed by a husbands death. yet these house wives had no profession, no experience, and no capability. they where not strong or skilled enough to fell trees and create fire wood so instead they gathered sticks and small peices of wood and sold them to other residence.
like all homosexual insults, this term eventually came to insult homosexual males calling them 'useless old women' in a sense. however as time went on this orginal definition has faded and we are left with ****** meaning only homosexual.
in resent years, however, we are starting to see the word rebound and reassume its old definition as an insult to a skill-less use-less individual.

Any negative connotations with it are purely social and not related to the actual DEFINITION of the word. I think its like all slurs (in the context of online gaming) where most who use it in reality have nothing against a group, religion or race; theyre just trying to be assholes. Its more about their desire to just be as rude and insulting as possible because they have the comfort of anonymity. they know words like that carry harsh meaning for most, so they just use it. the word can be anything
