Gah. Having grown up during the 90s, I've had quite enough of the Lilith Fair, thank you very much. The only reason this style comes off as unique is the decade it finds itself in. If you care to jump back fifteen years or so, you'll hear tons of poorly-written, femi-nazi, "tolerate my feelings or I'll bludgeon you to death/men are all bad, never tolerate them", whiny rock ballads.

The reason she'll do well, however, is that teenagers have all the disposable income, and teenagers, almost to a man, are whiny and self-absorbed, absolutely convinced their pain is the worst ever (yes, I was one of those too).

I think Ms. Muse has 50 cent syndrome. Which i find hilarious and ridiculous at the same time. I'm not a big fan of muse, her music is not my cup of tea. But thats not the issue here. This was a crude marketing ploy similar to the activities of 50 cent who if you have ever noticed, always manages to "beef" with another rapper not long before or after he has a new album waiting to be released. Being that the Epic win dropped this week, and that she promoted this as a love song the entire time, she knew what she was doing.

I haven't watched one of her videos in months but i tuned in to this one only to find it an abstract unentertaining and semi nonsensical attack on a comic writer's character based soley of his comedic stylings. I find it highly laughable that anyone would try to attack a comedian on anything except being funny or unfunny as it immediately destroys the attackers credibility and logic. Its like getting angry at south park. Why? Why wait till her album comes out. Why deceive the escapist community with this whole "love song" ruse. Why the weird screw driver ending? Why hasn't she repped too hard for feminism up until this point? What was this supposed to be aside from a bump in her q rating and a boost to her record sales.

I find Yahtzee wildly entertaining. And Im sure he has negative opinions on women as a whole along with most people which would be par for the course. However to arbitrarily attack him as a misogynist is weak sauce and reeks of cherry picking, and a person looking to be offended. As many have stated he has had just as many statements attacking female stereotypes and misogyny as he has had jokes about women. But the kicker is that regardless they are still jokes. It all seems very contrived and calculated. And seeing as she no has nearly 400 posts in 2 days (more than yahtzee usually gets in a week) its working.

More so than a retaliation or redress from Yahtzee i would like an explanation from Muse to make sense of her logic and motivation on this event. Yahtzee should take the Rick Ross route (Rapper that beefed with 50-not say much and go on being good at what he does) and let his success speak for itself.
really? you honestly think she could have no other reason for making this song except wanting to sell more CD's?

well, if you believe mayes is going the 50c route, then you must not forget to mention the second part of that particular marketing trick: the cooperation of the other party.

you think those other rappers were trying to defend their street cred by beefing with him? you think they didn't get a sales boost on their diss records? by the logic you're following, yahtzee is in on this and is hoping to increase his popularity by offering the escapist community teh drama.

by extension, it's also probable (some) of the escapist staff is in on it. and of course, they couldn't have done this without consent of the themis group, and as we all know, the illuminati control all media so they're probably in on it too. and dont forget about the jews. they're pobably part of this nefarious conspiracy to get you to listen to rebecca mayes too.

or maybe this isn't some get more sales plot.
maybe, just maybe, this is just someone making a song for someone they like.

crazy eh?

nah i didn't like.
pretty disappointing, just Rebecca needlessly bitching.

Seems to me she's just trying to steal some of yahtzee's enormous popularity by starting a flame war with him.
Loss of respect Rebecca...and I often like your work...

Wait?

What?

Was that a love song or a hate song?
It was a love song filled with biting, criticizing, hateful lyrics to impress the ever-cynical Yahtzee.

Yeah, it's pretty cool, huh?
Yrea.
I tried looking at it that way too but it struck me more of like a bad "you dumped me and I wrote this song about it" kind of thing. It's either poorly conceived or brilliant. I can dig that.
The music itself... I don't know.

Im sorry but your post is not a logical response to what I'm saying. You're attributing a bunch of stuff that i didn't say in order to try to make my argument seem illogical but you haven't actually addressed it.However i will demonstrate how to effectively debate an issue by responding to what you are actually saying.

In 50 cent's case most of the rappers he "beefed" with hardly responded and definitely didn't do much of anything to start the issue. Nas, Jay Z, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Kanye West all did little to nothing in response to 50 outside of a line or two while 50 would dedicate whole mixtapes to them. He also, as stated before, always did it when he had a major project coming out in order to create a buzz. So no there is no real "street cred" concept at play here

Aside from assaulting (in his opinion)bad games and making the occasional sexist joke, Yahtzee has done little to nothing to warrant what equates to a dis track. And I guess a bit of controversy could help his book sales out in a few months but those were already doing pretty good. And it all seems as i said before, far too contrived.

As for the cooperation, surely the escapist had to sign of in some way. However I doubt Yahtzee said to himself that he needed a dis track from Rebbecca muse and that they conspired to creat internet nerd havoc with this beef. It just sounds silly.

and... you know what i read your post again and it just makes too little sense to continue to try to respond too. "a song for someone they like" what about that song says that to you? Its very creepy and to me sounds like a cry for attention.

I really don't feel this girl is very talented, her voice is bland and simply just doesn't do anything for me.

Oh he did see it. I noticed that he hates everyone. I really get tired of that speil. Why can't there be a smart opinionated person that doesn't hate everyone?
Mostly because if someone is opinionated and smart they force their opinion forward and if you can't see that it's smarter than what you think you must be stupid.

And I for one hate stupid people.
I guess that makes sense. But I myself never saw the point of condemning people because they are stupid. It's like "I've spent a day or two or several unfiltered hours with this person and noticed that they aren't very smart." but i've never held it against anyone at best I wish they would learn but I always kinda felt that we are all stupid because there is always something we know nothing about and if we ran into someone that knew everything about it they would say we are stupid when that isn't the truth. It's almost like smart people think they are above being respectful to someone who is of a lower level of intelligence. And that thought process is why stupid people don't listen because no one likes being talked down to stupid or smart.
And how is this not Yahtzee to a T.

Suuuuuperb.

Really, really good. I could never get into your video game-themed songs, but this one is great, well done.

If there is no wedding between both of them after this I'll loose all my faith in what love and flirting are all about!
Very cool song.

I find it odd that the escapist would allow their people to rip on each other on a public site. If they have some personal issues it seems rather childish to involve us. Or if her problem is with his reviews because they're harshly critical and perverse then here's an interesting idea: don't watch them! I know, crazy right? Whatever the reason I must plead to both: don't use us fans in a rage war that has no meaning to us. It's silly, it's wrong, and it's a waste of everyone's time.
