I have to admit of all the things I've seen on Escapist, I was quite a bit skeptical on this one, but after watching the first couple of videos I really enjoyed your work. Keep making the good music it's quite well done for a one-person band.

Beautiful girl singing beautiful lyrics with her beautiful voice. Also, please ignore the peanut gallery that requests drums. In music, the drums exist large in part as a metronome and would benefit Ms. Mayes in no way. They would only act as a distraction. It would be safe to assume that her smooth melodic tone is intentional, and filling the breaks with so much noise would only come off as a ruckus when blended with her siren-esque voice. Continue what you're doing Rebecca; You are extremely talented and quite lovely, to boot.

I'm sorta getting caught up in whether these are songs about games, or generally songs that mildly reference games.

Because if you replaced "Call of Duty 2" with any other phrase (per say "Colonel Robot-Kitten" or "Generic Sports Athlete"

It's still more or less the same.

I appreciate not having to druge through the "Is war really worth it, or is peace the right answer" message that gets inundated in other vids.

You idiots out there that take these posts too seriously, I was joking. It is no my fault Chester and joe are too retarded to understand that and too fat and isolated to understand human emotions. Rebecca is a beautiful and intelligent girl and I enjoy her music. If you are so retarded that you cannot watch her videos without thinking that somehow YOU are her protector or somehow connected to her because you clicked on the Play button, you are the crazy ones. Go play in traffic.
Pugiron, I wasn't insulting you. I'm not saying she's not talented or ugly or that I don't enjoy her music, on the contrary! But there's still a difference on how you put your opinion into words. Posting that you'd very much like to mail yourself to her if you knew her address, portrays you as fat and isolated yourself, to quote you. And it doesn't actually help that you posted similar things in other threads of her songs. If I may quote you from the Wet thread:

Pugiron said:
All she has to do is pout like that and she doesn't need a gun. I'd rip my own heart out and offer it to her if she asked with that pout.
Posting it once for laughs is one thing. But repeating to offer your heart and yourself just makes you look obsessed about her and lonesome. Once again: no offence.

Besides, how can you even call someone fat and isolated, based off of their posts? You don't even know us, it just makes no sense at all. I'm beginning to wonder if I struck a nerve ...

Was that outfit a uniform from the Galactic Empire?
There were many countries using military uniforms long before George Lucas was ever born, y'know. The "galactic empire" ripped their hats off from the very real Imperial Navy of Nippon.
Thanks for the info ^^

I like all of your songs for their own merits, but I honestly think that this one in particular pitched it up a notch. I can't explain why, and I hesitate to call it 'better' because that suggests the others were worse, but this song was just so brilliant!

If I didn't know it was about MW2, and heard it on the radio or elsewhere, I think the lyrics and song could stand as entirely standalone.

Lovely work.

Pug, you are a fucking idiot. I've stopped watching her crap since the Bionic Warrior video. Now, I read the threads to try and get an idea of what the video was about. It takes me two or three pages of scrolling through "OMG Rebecca u r so nice and cute and i love you and ur muzic is teh greatest make a album and itunes!" before I even find a glimmer of something decent.
Pugiron, unlike Joe Belgium, I am insulting you. You are a shitless pre-pubescent retard. Only too willing to throw your hairless, pasty mortal flesh-sack in the way of a slightly negative comment directed to the general area of Mayes like some medal-hungry rookie bodyguard assigned to Avril Lavigne to realize that posting things like my exaggeration, or your implied joke, greatly reduce the credibility of alot of other posters on this thread, as well as that of Mayes.
I hope you read that last paragraph. It's doubtful, though, since it contains strings of insults so beautifully crafted together you would pass it off as another word block like an ape would pass off "Starry Night" as a colorful bunch of paint blotches.

I in no way consider myself connected to Mayes. Hell, I even refuse to use her first name on a strictly professional Associated Press basis. She is no where near the first person I would want to protect from anything, much less her slack-jawed slobbering Fantards. For once, I would like to come to one of these threads and not have to dig through two or three pages of horseshit posts before getting to one post that provides decent information about her video.

When I make a post that usually follows one of these:

I don't know if Rebecca actually reads these comments, but I have to thank her for her song... it was a moment of brightness in an otherwise terrible, terrible holiday season, so...
Or, this:

Ugh, this is the 5th attempt at giving her a chance. Her music has no point at all its like trying to be ironic but it isn't.
It's not because I'm a mean dick, it's because I'd like to read something that doesn't make me half-vomit. Your post, though supposedly in jest, made some vile organ in my throat excrete the very special chemicals that initiated my "retort" action.

So, Pugiron, you go play in traffic. I hope you don't get hit, though, because you would damage a perfectly good car and (barring you didn't die) pull resources from an ER that could be better spent on someone with more pressing issues.

Idiot.

The whole game was realy too disjointed for me. There was no logical flow to it, just lots of random sequences that were fun and often thrilling, but lacking in any decent narrative.

Song though, on to the song. Well Miss Mayes, bravo! I dind't really get it the first time, so I listened again. Really great approach to this one. It would have been too easy to do some heavy number about explosions and adrenaline, but, as usual, you've attacked it from a totally unexpected angle.

Great work on the video and you really do have an incredible voice.

Keep 'em coming!

Ha! Just read through some of the comments above mine. I went through the first page before but jesus! I can't believe that there are:
a) People who feel the need to come here specifically to say 'I don't like you' - that's like being invited in to someones house and then punching them in the face
b) People who take an obvious joke like 'I'm going to post myself to her' seriously enough to whine on about their boring life for 20 lines
c) People who are so self rightous as to think that they must defend Miss Mays against a and b
You're the kind of people that log on to live sex chats and think you can 'rescue' the porn star from all the bad men forcing her to take her clothes off.

I thought the point of this thread was to discuss the video, whether or not you liked it and why, as well as maybe giving a nod to the girl.

I just remembered why I stopped contributing to this forum. You're all fucking mental.

I saw the title of the latest song and I knew this was going to be legend.

I was right. Just one voice, one guitar, and one song that could easily be detached from the game in question without the tiniest dip in quality or relevance.
He couldn't have said it any better...which is why i cannot understand how this song is supposed to be good

Honestly, I feel jipped. When I see a video about Modern Warfare 2, I expect it to actually be about Modern Warfare 2. Instead, we got this absolute cop-out of a song! Seriously, what the heck WAS that? Did she have a motive? An opinion? A reason for writing the song even though she's getting paid? All we got was a string of "rhetorical" questions which really didn't feel at all rhetorical. I just wanted to be like "Yes, it was everything i thought it would be. Yes, that submarine part was cool. Yes, i do like adventures. Yeah, we prolly will be talking about this game for a while. So, uhhh.....your point?".
Ironically, I liked it, but I can see why not everyone would. You make some good points yourself even if I don't agree fully.

Also, the guy above me is right: Threads like these could use less of those three things he mentioned.

Any reason why I shouldn't be allowed to post my opinion on the matter at hand? I'm certainly not her bodyguard. She's old enough to take care of herself.

Best song you've done yet, finally felt like the lyrics transcended the game and got to a real point. The fact that you didn't choose the obvious war route was also much appreciated.

Now for the slightly argumentative forum point, for which I apologise. A really good review or comment, like a good novel or film, should go beyond merely reciting good and bad points of the subject and use it to talk about something bigger. Criticising something for talking about larger issues is like being horrified that Animal Farm didn't focus on agricultural management.

I feel the song was very beautifully composed. It brings to my mind the question, do you have any music posted that isn't about video games? If so where is it that I can listen to it? I have enjoyed your musical reviews, but this song heavily emphasizes your lyrical talents. Well, at least in my opinion. So if you have songs available that aren't reviews, would you be willing to share them with us? I would like to hear.

An interesting juxtaposition between the hyperviolent and the ultrasoothing.

Bravo Rebecca!

That was beautiful haunting song // It does have the feel of the game within it // Will we care about this game in years to come, was it worth all the nipe, did you get what you wanted out of the game

Non of these question I can answer cos I have never played it

I really like this song. What I got out of it is basically a view on gamers. People get caught up in games in an attempt to find some adventure in life. The thing is when most try to find that same adventure outside of the game. They should ask themselves if it was everything they hoped for. Almost 100 percent of the time it is not. Specifically with military action games. A lot of kids get the wrong idea and get themselves into situations that they didn't want or couldn't handle. And they have to realize that adventure doesn't exist in the sense that games, movies, and literature show us. A veil raised over societies eyes to depict an "adventurous" and dangerous lifestyle is much more glorious than it actually is.

Then again I could be looking too much into this. That is what I got out of it though.
Great Song.
