As to why Monster isn't on the album - I sent the finalised album to my distributors 2 weeks ago in order to release on 28th May. I will have to decide what to do with the songs coming out from now on - could release them one by one on my own website or wait for a few to build up and do another album. Preferences?
Can't help with the ref part.. but... for music.

Well, as I am greedy I'd like Monster released on your website or someway so I can get it soon. OOh, or have a contest or promotion or..

As for future music.. I would say, releasing them electronically could work, but you limit yourself financially if you don't charge. Maybe, build up enough for an CD, but release one here or there for fans?

I wonder what she ment by putting in the "its not going so well..." bit...?

hmm..?
See the song is not just about monsters in games but having an internal monster, like an internal bully, that you have to learn to live with. That's why I made the video about the recording process because I always have to fight my monster in order to create, and my monster is always very critical about how well it is going. So that last little bit is the sweet voice of monstrousness itself. I only noticed it when I was going through my footage and thought well, darn it, that is the very thing this song is about.

Anyone else know what I'm talking about or I'm the only one living with monsters?
My monster does not critique the quality of my writing, but it does get on me if I procrastinated and did not do any that day. So yea, I know what it iss like to live with monsters and they can be such jerks to. Maybe that is why we play video games, so we can metaphorically shoot, stab and blow up our personal monsters.

Really liked this one, Rebecca. Something special I think you have is that you play ALL of the instruments in the song. You should show more of this. Personally, I made a song and did the piano, drums and singing by myself. That wasn't easy. What you do is CLEARLY not easy. Also, it seems like you played a larger variety in this video than you normally do. Very cool. Keep it up!

the credits are awesome.
all in one.

it is hard for me to listen to this music.
because for me it sounds like there is a lot of emotion in it.
and that makes ME emotional.
a little sad, but ... in a sweet way.

i prefer rock - music that makes me just happy.
and nothing else.

anyways:
go on, and give us MORE!!!

I'd say you knocked it out of the park. You say that some of your classic stuff is getting old and worn out. While I personally disagree, I think that you have a very keen sense of judgment about which instrument to use where, what style suits what game or concept, and so on, and I look forward to you continuing to expand your musical influence in new ways.

Nicely done.

Hello Miss Mayes. Just want to say I like your songs and videos, so much so I registered here so I would be able to buy your album early. Which I just did, so thankyou.

And I think you should let your songs build up until you have enough for a new album rather than release them one at a time.

"Considering the monster inside" and how you put imagery of Persona 4, (don't know if you've played it or not) which is heavily inspired by Jungian psychology; that has a theory on archetypes created within human minds.
Long story short, humans have "shadows", a unconscious part of the self, that holds instinctive, repressed, and irrational thoughs(amongs many others and the extent is not really known due to nature of Jung's research).

The point being:
"in spite of its function as a reservoir for human darkness ? or perhaps because of this? the shadow is the seat of creativity." C.G.Jung.

Also you have an angry face when you sing as you mentioed, but that doesn't mean you don't look happy and glow as usual. As for the song it was great!

This video has certainly shown everyone the effort you put into creating your art. Rebecca, did you teach yourself to play all those musical instruments?

And we all have monsters. Some of them even masquerade as cute, but eventually they try to bring us down. Thanks for all your work pushing through those walls and knocking your monsters flat on their backs (least to us it seems like that.)

I simply love this song. It is almost too beautiful to even listen to, yet still I can't keep a single day away from it. This daily moment of peace has gone on for many weeks now. Thank you, Rebecca.

I also love this song, my favorite thats not on the album.

And I suppose multiple albums is more collectible than online downloads, so I vote for that :)

...oh yeah, lovely song by the way, as usual...
I can't believe it took 36 posts to get a shout out for Persona 4, the best JRPG on the PS2...Yeah, I have an opinion, and it's right!

This + Ghostbusters+ Velvet ass + guitar hero are my favs so far, too bad they are about games, not that i have anything against games it's just it is a bit of a narrow crowd, they could be made into songs that are much bigger than they are without much problems.
