Keith woke up from his unconscious state. He coughed a few times and put his hand back to push himself up to a sitting position. "Holy crap..that worked...im..awesome." he said slowly and quietly to himself because he had the wind knocked out of him. Keith then saw soul jump into the way of the vampire and get bit. "What..the...hell*Cough*Why did he do...that? What a... dumbass." he said face palming. Keith tried to push himself up, but he couldn't find the strength to do so. I will just sit here a while.he thought to himself taking in a deep breath.

Edgar watching disgust as the vampire melted into nothingness. As Vlad went off at Soul Edgar strolled round to Keith and bent down.

"You alright?" He asked before offering his hand.

"Considering that I just got dropped into the forest by a vampire, I am pretty good. How about you?" He put his hand into Edger's. Atleast this guy seems friendly and semi-competent.He put his other hand to his mouth. Jesus Christ, I freaking need a dentist. This just feels wrong.

"Did you even listen to what I said?!" Vlad gritted his teeth. "Only an idiot would see that as necessary! You have a sword! Swords can't become Vampires last I heard, you could of easily of put that thing there instead of your arm!" Vlad clenched his fists. "And I said for you to give me your damn arm!" Vlad grabbed Soul's arm and in less then a second moved it behind him so Soul couldn't move. "This is going to hurt like nothing physical you've felt before." Vlad bit into Soul's arm and began to suck out blood, it hurt one hundred times more then Charles' bite. After a few seconds Vlad stopped and wiped his mouth. "Urg... Vampire blood... Tastes like shit..." He took a deep breath. "Luckily for you, as old as I am I have learned to filter the blood I drink. I only sucked out Charles' blood."

"Truly... a disappointment." Soul said sourly, rubbing his arm gently where both Charles and Vlad had bitten down on. He walked over to one of the sides of the chamber and sat down on a crumbled pillar, taking out his blade and cleaning off both vampire and werewolf blood. The blade shone a new, darker black color, which could only be accounted to defeating the vampire.

"Besides, you never said how to defeat him and clearly we did more than you could. I was never given instructions telling me not to get bitten."

"That's because I thought it was common sense! What are you, a robot? Are you unable to do think on your own? Oh and I would of sorted it out myself, but if you listened before I couldn't go near him." Vlad growled like a beast at Soul as Engineer landed his helicopter.

"Hey guys, good work! Only one causality on your first mission! That's a good start!" Engineer said a the doors to the helicopter opened. "Get in, you managed to earn the right to meet the Dungeon Master. I can only see good things for you guys in the future."

Soul let an evil grin flash across his face, just long enough so that Vlad could see, before taking his place on the helicopter. The white bud he had taken out of his hear was still dangling uselessly by the cord around his neck, so Soul simply turned the radio off and leaned back in his seat, waiting for the others to pile into the helicopter.

If this dungeon master was anywhere near as interesting as Vlad and Charles, Soul was going to enjoy this meeting far more than he had originally thought.

Edgar smiled a little at Keith's remark and replied "Not too bad" he said before turning and heading for the Engineer's helicopter. He paused to unload his M79 before stepping in and sitting down, sighing a little as he did. He looked across at Soul.

Something not right with that guy.

Edgar reflected on what had just happened. One of the group was already dead, how long would the rest of them last? He wondered what the Dungeon master would be like, would he even be human? Edgar pushed these thoughts away and relaxed in his seat, waiting for the chopper to take off.

"Thanks for the compliment," Alexis thought to herself as she unloaded her rifle and slung it across her shoulder, "although if I had any sort of sense, I wouldn't have gotten involved in all this in the first place." Making her way towards the helicopter, Alexis cut out the confrontation between Vlad and Soul, and Engineer's inane chatter from her mind, instead focusing on everything she'd witnessed. While still questioning whether she really wanted to be a part of this, she knew she'd feel a little more comfortable if it weren't for a couple of major issues. The first was the guy with the sword. While having someone skilled in close combat on the team was a good thing, his blatant disregard for the others bothered her. She somehow doubted he'd hesitate to sacrifice someone if it suited him best, he certainly didn't strike her as a team player. Her second problem was this whole organisation. She disliked Engineer, was wary of Keeper to put it mildly, and she wasn't too optimistic this Dungeon Master would be a whole lot different. She wasn't even convinced they'd finally be given some answers, the organisation hadn't exactly gone out of its way to provide them so far.

She stopped by the helicopter, looking back at the castle. One of them had died back there, and while at the time she'd been too focused on staying alive herself, she now felt a sense of regret. Regret that she barely knew him, and regret that she'd been unable to do anything to help him. Though what could she have done? Charles had been far too fast for any of them, and his powers...

With a sigh she shook her head and climbed into the helicopter, taking a seat and staring back out into the woods. It was a little late for recriminations now, she was in this mess, she'd just have to deal with it. Or die trying.

"Something wrong?" Soul asked, looking over to the girl who had just climbed aboard the helicopter, "My name's Soul by the way."

Soul looked blankly out of the helicopter, unsure whether this girl felt he was a threat or an ally. If he was going to be stuck working with these people, he might as well try and befriend some of them. Now that they were out of the immediate combat, Soul seemed almost normal, except for his bright red eyes.

"You seem troubled by what just occurred."

That's a good point actually, have our characters actually been assigned/chosen their codenames yet? I'll go with not for the moment, I can edit my post later :)

Soul's comment caught Alexis by surprise. She glanced at him, attempting to keep any sign of suspicion from her expression. She decided to keep her concerns about him to herself for the time being. After all, it was possible she had him completely wrong, though she doubted it. His eyes didn't help matters either, the red colouring unnerved her.

"It's nothing," she replied, then added, "well, no, I've just been dumped in some random forest god knows where, to fight creatures most people don't even believe exist, with practically no information, by a group with some questionable employment tactics and downright scary attitudes. But other than that, everything's fine." She tailed off, realising that her reply had turned into a full blown rant. Shaking her head, she flashed Soul a weak smile.
"Sorry, I got a bit carried away there," she said, looking back out of the helicopter, "but this... One of us died in there. Needlessly. I don't know what your opinion is on that, you seem better equipped to deal with all this than I am, but it doesn't sit right with me." She closed her eyes, biting on her bottom lip. This was too much. If her speculation on Soul was even halfway accurate, the last thing she needed to do was show any sign of weakness to him. He didn't strike her as someone with a lot of patience for someone he classed as weak. She shook her head again.
"I'll be fine," she said, "anyway, I haven't introduced myself. I'm Alexis." She then turned to the other occupants of the helicopter. "What about you guys? What are your names?" She could feel Soul watching her, and repressed a shudder. She hoped she'd got him wrong, because the alternative only added to her worries, and she had too many of those as it was.

"I learned to cope with death due to my own fault. Oh well, you'll get used to it eventually but for now its understandable that you don't revel in death." Soul's eyes misted over slightly as he spoke of death but nothing that seemed to affect him more than that. Soul turned his gaze away from Alexis, noticing a discomfort only too common with his piercing eyes and pale skin. His gaze flashed to Vlad once more before he looked back over to Alexis.

"I apologize for my appearance, I understand that it unnerves most who see it." Soul said quietly, his eyes glancing down at the floor so Alexis couldn't see them. Alexis reminded him of his sister which is the only reason he was talking to her as much as he was.

Keith started to hobble toward the helicopter. Oh my god my back hurts. I haven't felt this much pain in years. He thought to himself. He fell down to one knee in pain and took a deep breath. "Hew, I need a second." After a few seconds he hobbled to the helicopter and sat down. He pulled a bottle of aspirin out of his bag and took one. Did I break something? He thought as he coughed and held his back. "Hey Engineer, Have you *Cough* finally realized this isn?t Comic Con?"

Edgar reached into his pocket and took out a packet of cigarettes and a zippo, he lit one and took a draw, the rush of Nicotine relaxing him.He sat silently for a while smoking until he was woken from his day dream by Alexis. He turned to her and said "My names Edgar, nice to meet ya"

With all the Recruits in, Engineer flew off back towards the base.
Vlad looked at the 'copter flying to his destination, then back to the castle. It began to sink into the ground, within seconds all that remained in its place was a bare strip of land surrounded by trees. Vlad sighed, his heart heavy, as Valkenhayn walked next to him. "You still felt for him?" The werewolf asked, his voice showing compassion and understanding.
"Of course... He was my son. Nothing he did will change that, it had to be done..." The Vampire replied, sorrow once hidden bursting out in his voice. He seemed ready to cry.
Valkenhayn nodded as he put a comforting hand on Vlad's shoulder. "We are two old monster, wishing we were what we are not. We both made a decision when we took upon us our curses, but I still believe what we did was... Right."
Vlad looked up at the black sky. "Yes, it was. But I still miss the sun... Now it hides from me... Everywhere I go, shrouded in darkness. My power so great it cowers..." He looked back at the copter, it slowly going out of sight. "They will fight against our mistakes. We half caused the pain they are fated to go through. Soul, that was the boy's name, I hope he learns to be truly happy soon. If he doesn't, then I weep for him."

Engineer landed and led the Recruits to a room with a desk and a seat for it, in which Keeper was sat, a door behind her. "You are ready, I warn, his appearance may surprise." She stood up and opened the door, letting the Recruits in. Inside was a TV, hooked up to several entertainment devices, a wheelchair and a bed with a pale as snow boy who looked no older then 21 in, a laptop on his lap. The room smelt strongly of cigarettes and alcohol. The boy waved to the recruits. "Hello, I am The Dungeon Master." His voice was raspy, likely caused by excessive smoking if the smell held any weight. "So, from this day forward you will be Hunters... Soooo... Um... Any questions?"

Soul turned away from the boy in the bed, his skin almost the same tone as the boy's. Instead of asking questions that had been bothering him earlier, Soul separated himself from the group and crossed his arms, waiting for the others to ask their questions so he could leave.

Soul's comments caught Alexis a little by surprise. Maybe she was letting her opinions on Engineer and Keeper to colour the rest of her judgement. She sat in silence for the rest of the journey back, staring out at the sky.

The helicopter having landed, Alexis followed the others as they were led through the base by Engineer. She kept thinking on this Dungeon Master, and what he might look like, but quickly gave up on the exercise. After what she'd seen so far, he could be anything from normal human, to a computer, to a slathering slime monster with three jaws and six pairs of eyes. Keeper's words as she stood to open the door didn't come as any surprise. To Alexis. The view that greeted her as she entered the door with the other recruits however did.

"This is a joke, was her first thought, as she stopped dead in her tracks, "this has to be a joke..." She glanced at Keeper, but the woman's stern, no-nonsense expression gave nothing away. Fighting down a growing sense of unease, she turned her attention to the young man on the bed. He didn't look any older than she was, nor did he look, or smell, especially healthy. Her mind tracked back to earlier thoughts, about this all being some rich person's game. He'd certainly need to be rich to have this sort of setup. The thought made her feel sick, especially when the image of Reece's body flashed into her mind. She dismissed the notion almost as quickly however. This was far too elaborate for that. That being said, this could be another test. Whoever these people actually were, they certainly weren't averse to throwing people in at the deep end, and in Engineer's case hoping they would drown. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted Soul separate himself from the group. She could imagine his feelings on this. Then she remembered Charles He had looked like a child, but his power had far surpassed his appearance. There wasn't any reason the same couldn't apply, she'd already come across stranger since she'd arrived. There wasn't even any guarantee this Dungeon Keeper was human.

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she brought her mind firmly back to the task at hand. There was no way to tell if this was another test, so she'd just have to take it at face value for now. She also decided to keep her grievances over the entire debacle so far to herself. Maybe Soul was right, it was something she'd get used to. Right now though, that wasn't much consolation. A number of questions ran through her mind, but the stream dried up as she took another look at the Dungeon Master. This was something that would take some getting used to. She cleared her throat.
"Um, yeah, I have one," she said, trying to keep her voice calm and measured, "in fact, I've got two. Who exactly are you guys? And why recruit us, rather than, say, hire a bunch of battle-hardened mercenaries?"

The Dungeon Master coughed before answering Alexis. "We are The Hunters of Legend, as are you now. We do what must be done, what nobody else can do. We fight that which doesn't officially exist so that the normal people can go on with their lives, undisturbed by the true harshness of the world. We make the choices and the sacrifices necessary to protecting humanity. I chose you because, most of you, are normal people. You're human, I know that if there was a hard choice forced upon you that you would make the most humane decision instead of acting like a robot, like a battle-hardened mercenary."

He shrugged, smiling weakly. "That's not to say I don't think you're strong or useful in any other way, I didn't just choose a random group of people via roulette wheel. Or did I? Hm... No, I'm pretty sure I didn't, that would stupid."

"Well what did you choose us for? Our skill, our ability to kill, our was it our pasts you found most interesting?" Soul scowled, angrily gazing at the boy in the bed. His hand twitched as if he wanted to reach for his sword and cut the boy down, but he controlled himself and instead looked coolly at the boy.

Definitely not a bump...
