''Yeah, guys, great redesign if spyro, just needs one more thing, a lengthened nose.''

Who was high enough to approve that? Seriously, it looks like a purple goblin. There you go. You just killed my childhood. And just made yourself bankrupt. Because i tell you. NOBODY will ever buy a game in which the main character got inbred through 5 generations of dragons with short noses.

No, that's not Spyro
Spyro's cute and looks huggable.

Pretty much this. They'd never change Spyro that much The corporations know that we don't want that...right...right? *bangs head against padded cell's door in denial
Good reboots..hmm
Space Invaders Infinity Gene
Punch Out!!!
Bionic Commando ReArmed 2 looks good, but Rearmed 1 was just a remake
New Super Mario Bros (rebooting the side scrolling mario)
Street Fighter 4
Fallout 3
Heard Splinter Cell Conviction was okay
Duke Nukem Forever will probably end up here
DOOM 3 was decent
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
That's all I can think of right now

What the hell is this, and why does it have the same name as Spyro the dragon?

WTF??

When I read "new Spyro look" I thought maybe he'll look older, stand on two legs, develop some weird dragon muscles...anything would have been better than that monstrosity!
Then he uses guns to kill Russians...
I got it! This is Spyro's nightmare! The real story will pick up in the next Call of Duty, when Spyro saves the human race!

Does Activision understand that Spyro is a Dragon, not a troll?

Seriously, if you needed more proof that Take-Two's game franchises will be ruined by Activision, look no further.

What the hell? Is he suffering from leprosy?

I still can't forgive Rare for making this slick spy:

Into this:

Way to be classy, guys.

Joanna Dark was one of the best female characters in gaming. She was a strong woman, that never drew attention to her sexuality. She wasn't exactly a tomboy; she still looked feminine, but in a tasteful way. Her outfit was a bit sexy, but never so much that it would be impractical.

For the "prequel"? Throw everything out the window and turn Joanna into a sex-deprived space slut. How the hell is she supposed to do spy things in that suit? Are her boobs supposed to deflect bullets as they pop out when she rolls over a ledge..? Really... I guess it's called Perfect Dark Zero since they subtracted so much from the first game.

Speaking of Rare:
They seem to be the worst offender of this trend. Why the fuck did they turn a fun, cartoony platformer into a slow, mundane and repetitive Lego-knockoff?

My response to the picture:

I actually screamed like that when I saw the new... thing.

That is NOT Spyro.. He looks like a gremlin. I hate Activision for doing this.

Examples of good reboots... Can't think of any, to be honest. All the reboots I've played sucked.

Ugh...

But to be fair, it's not the original team. After Perfect Dark, most of Rare left to form Free Radical [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_Radical_Design] and make the excellent Timesplitters series.

And searching for that just informed me that Crytek is none other than the new name of Free Radical... Huh. Maybe I should give Crysis 1 + 2 a shot.

so they ruined crash, they ruined pokemon years ago and now spyro, well once they decide to 'reboot' rayman and I see the inevitable rule 34 of power rangers the decimation of my childhood will be complete.

The Perfect Dark team also made TimeSplitters? That is awesome! They really know how to make good FPSs it seems.

If only they could start working on TimeSplitters 4 though...

Come to think of it... Rayman is probably the only classic PlayStation 1 character left to rape.

JUST WHEN YOU THINK IT CAN'T GET WORSE.

Dear lordy why. Activision. Why. I could have designed you a better Spyro than that!

I mean okay it's nice to see you step down from the Overly dramatic Epic-a Spyro. But WHY THAT.

An example of bad reboot, DMC...now DMC: Origins or somesuch. Dante smokes, has black hair and is trapped somewhere. As if the other DMC didn't even matter.

I doubt any reboot is a good one.
This is a bit unfair. It isn't out yet. There could be a perfectly good reason for the new look, and he may even be back to normal by the end of the game. I'm not putting money on it, but still. If it can hold it's weight story-wise and keep Dante in his heyday of humor (DMC3 (and from what I've heard, DMC4) level), then it'll be a pretty good reboot in my opinion. Given the other games, I'm taking good gameplay as a given, because there's no hope if the screw that up.
He will have white hair again, this I know. But it's from a different writer (the other one stepped out). It somewhat ignores all the other DMC and Dante just isn't Dante. I would honestly not complained about any story as long as he would have stayed himself but he just looked and acted odd. Gameplay is not the issue as much as ruining a character that I really liked. I will await to see what it's like but I'm not really confident about it.
I saw the concept art...

...and I think he looks pretty cool. Although I have never played a Devil May Cry game so I have no idea if this change contradicts his character or something. (But it probably does, since so many people mentioned it)
Well since you didn't play the first Devil May Cry I could understand it would be a cool looking character but if you play the other games you will know that is the WORST character design for Dante

Seems strange to release it as a Devil May Cry game, why not make a completely new series since they apparently changed Dante's personality?

And I don't know why he has dark hair, isn't it supposed to be gray?

While I'm waiting for story details on this new game, i will safely say that this redesign for dante is nothing short of horrible....I mean cmon, does he look in ANY way similiar to how he used to look, even in his young appearance? (DMC 3). Dante doesn't have red eyes, he doesn't have black hair, he doesn't smoke, and...his face just Doesn't look the same. I'm sorry, but i fail to see how this is dante. Even in the trailer he wasn't acting right: Dante is normally cocky and confident, but in the trailer he seemed more borderline psychotic. On the subject of gameplay i have this to say: If he gets Devil Trigger in this game without some damned good reason, i will be pissed.

Reboot or not, they have, from what i can tell, absolutely gutted and destroyed everything that made Dante a cool character.

When I first saw that trailer on youtube I flagged it for child abuse.

Or more specifically childhood abuse.

Damn you Activision, seriously what does this game have to do with Spyro other than feauring some strange mutation who also happens to have the same name?
