Hey guys, I think it's time for a new RTS so can anyone recommend a good one? Please notice, I did say RTS, i don't want a RTT. I need to be able to build bases and have large armies. My past favorites are Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour, Supreme Commander, the original Dawn of War and expansions, and Sins of a Solar Empire. Thanks for any help.
Edit: Yes i know i misspelled recommend, i was rushing

Starcraft. There is really no reason that you haven't played this yet. Please, play it. It is god.

Well those seem to be all the recent ones. Er... the SupCom expansion?

I'd say company of heroes but that isn't really a build-a-base RTS.

Not to add to the chorus, but Starcraft is amazing, and you will be set up nicely for the sequel later this year.

Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 is great fun. Lots of varied units and a general aversion to any kind of seriousness makes it a nice break from the normal gruff and humourless RTS style.

Also, if you want something completly different, check out the Homeworld series. They are RTSs set in space with full 3d movement control. Plus they have great music.

Warcraft 3 + Frozen Throne expansion pack has a lot of longevity. Great storyline and there is still a player base.

Well even though you like building crap, I still recomend Tom Clancys End War, another good one is Civilasation revolution. (Spore isn't half bad)

Erm, well seeing as I like all the games on your previous list. I would recommend

C&C3, like Generals, but without the comically bad voice acting.

Homeworld 2, because its epically good, if its too simple for you download the complex mod, that equals many an hour of fun.

Total Annhilation is really old school, more old school than starcraft. Its the predecessor to Sup Com, I was playing that when I was barely out of nappies.

If u like dawn of war try Company of Heroes, by relic as well and its pretty good WW2 rts, best i have played, but then again I havent played sudden strike.

Ground Control, and ground control 2 are good, the 1st one is awesomely tactical, the 2nd is a bit more on the not serious side of things, but none the less a good game.

Other than that, id go for series by relic or one of the C&C games.

Age of Empires 3 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.79290] are a couple of my favourites. You might like one of them.

Rome: Total War. Total War is the best strategy series out there, and Rome:Total War is the best of them.

Total war series definitely.

You can also give Company of heroes and World in conflict a try, no base building means no turtling, much less macro management, and much more micro management, makes these much intensely focused than traditional RTS (i.e. you don't need to hot key and switch all over the map every 2 seconds to take care of everything). For CoH, you can try the EIR mod, it's a totally new RTS experience unlike any other, in my opinion.
