So for my birthday last month I got myself a used PSP 3k and I wanted to know if any Escapist users who owns/used to own the system.

I so far got four games for it:

Disgea 1+2

Jaxter

Final Fantasy tactics.

Anyone else got good suggestions? I'm a platformers SRPG/JRPG type of person.

+1 one Ys 7, Ys Oath in Felghana is really good on there as well. The 3rd Birthday is a 3rd person shooter I really enjoyed. Knights in the Knightmare is one of my fave PSP titles currently, so I have to throw my vote into that one!

I'm pretty fond of the weirdass things Sting made, like Riviera, Gungnir, Knigths in the Nightmare and (less weird) Hexyz Force.

If you love Final Fantasy Tactics, you need to play Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. FFT inherited most of its good stuff from that game.

Oh, and a little warning: DO NOT buy the PSP version of Mana Khemia, either digital or on UMD. It runs like shit through a strainer. (It works fine on Vita though)

Damn I need to get a new working PSP. Anyway~ The entire DJ-MAX series. You already have the Disgaea games I was about to recommend, fantastic titles! Wipeout Pure is another good one and one of the few racing games I have enjoyed. Megaman Powered UP and and Megaman Maverick Hunter X. I am not exactly a fan of Final Fantasy but the PSP has a huge selection of games for that franchise and I found Dissidia Final Fantasy a very entertaining and strange alternate fighting game experience.

If you have some good suggestions lay it on me. I'm very ignorant on what series are on the PSP since up till now ive mostly owned Nintendo systems.

Platformers? There was that sidescrolling Prinny game. Don't remember its name.

I second all of this, pretty good choices.

If you are looking for more SRPGs, if you haven't played the Disgaea games they're available for it and they are fantastic, see also Jeanne D'Arc, pretty damned good SRPG by Level 5 (Known for the tales of games).

Other good choices are the Persona 1, 2 & 3 ports for it, won't regret it if you like JRPGs.

And if you love weird Japanese games get Gitaroo Man Lives, it's just a port of Gitaroo Man for the PSP but it's a good and extremely bizarre Japanese rhythm game.

I would also recommend Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles, though do keep in mind that I'm a huge Castlevania fanboy, that being said it does also include the game of which it's a remake of Rondo of Blood translated to English for the first time and Symphony of the night and it's at the very least worth it for SotN alone.

Patapon and Locoroco series are nice. Metal gear: peace walker and Crisis Core for the more hardcore flavor.

I remember seeing a few of these games when cursory shopping on Amazon (but bought familiar titles)

All of them are physical right? PSN is dead on the PSP so any download only games are out of the question.

What is Ys7 is that an abbreviation. I saw a lot of recommendation threads talk about this game.

Last time I checked, you could still buy and download PSP games through the PSN Store's website. Or use a PS3, if you have one. Actually, now that I think about it, I think it's still possible to download games you bought directly to your PSP, you just can't buy them on your PSP since that part of the storefront is down.

So seriously, check the possibilities before you write downloads off. PSN has excellent sales at times and PSP memory cards are pretty cheap.

Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles. I got a lot of mileage out of that game. It's a remake of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood on the PC Engine, originally only released in Japan. It also includes the original game as well as Castlevania: Symphony of the night.

Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? Great game. Tough as balls. I cheesed the final boss by using a special technique that involved sacrificing several hundred of my Prinnys. I think I ragequit the optional Etna boss fight and the DLC levels. There was a sequel but I never played it.

I don't own a PSP (that is a vita, right? May have got this wrong), but there is a game that looks really interesting enough that I am hoping it gets a PSN release, called Yomawari: Night Alone. An interesting horror. Here's a little let's play snippet that may help;

Persona 3 Portable and Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. Both are ports, but good to play on PSP.
